Buhari assures African Development Bank they will get out of current problems


President Buhari today said Nigeria has the people and the resources to surmount her economic problems. Receiving President of the African Development Bank (ADB), Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, at State House, Abuja, on Monday, President Buhari said:
"God has given us people and resources. It will take hard work on our part, but we will make it. We will get out of our problems. We are determined to produce what we eat, and stop importation. We will also chase those who stole, and get them to refund."

According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Coaster bus pictured crashed into a bush at Itamage, Ikorodu. There was one casualty and the LASEMA response unit has recovered his body. The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Kogi State | 29-year-old Man in court for killing his 2 daughters


A Lokoja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 29-year-old applicant, Anyaogu Samuel in prison for allegedly killing his two daughters.

The accused was brought to the court by the police for allegedly killing his nine months old daughter, Chinoso, and two-year-old Miracle.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Tuesday Ganagana, told the court that the children were killed on December 25, 2015 and January 1, 2016.

Dangote to create 300,000 jobs via his 17bn dollars refinery - Official


The Dangote Industries Limited 17 billion-dollar refinery project will create over 300,000 direct and indirect jobs by the first quarter of 2019, the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Olakunle Alake, has said.

Alake made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday, adding that the refinery, petrochemicals and fertiliser plants were in one location.

He said the project would be the single largest stream in the world.

Rivers State | Kidnapped Corps Members regain Freedom


Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command on Monday rescued a corps member, Helen (surname withheld), who was kidnapped at the corpers’ lodge in Omademe, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

A group of unknown gunmen had stormed the residence of the corps members at about 3am on Friday and whisked her away in an unmarked car.

It was gathered that the incident caused panic among corps members in the area, even as the community’s security group joined forces with the police to search for the victim.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant in Yobe State, Dr. Muhammed Fari, on Monday said a 40-year-old deaf and dumb man, Shaaibu Danladi, raped a six-month-old baby in Potiskum.

The NSCDC boss, who decried the increasing cases of rape, indecency and breach of trust in the state, said medical report indicated that the baby sustained tear in her vagina down to her anus.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has revealed he has not got around to naming his newborn daughter due to his managerial duties.

Addressing reporters after a combined security meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday in Benin, Raji explained that the two drones will be deployed in each of the three senatorial districts and six gunboats for the riverine areas.

Raji disclosed that no military personnel would be found at either the voting or collation centres but they would cordon off adjoining routes to the polling units to prevent those that may want to cause havoc.
