#Rio2016: Team Nigeria’s Performance was better than that of London 2012 - Solomon Dalung

Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, on Saturday in Ilorin said he was disappointed with those who said Nigeria performed abysmally at the Rio 2016 Olympics Games.

Dalung, while declaring open the second edition of the National Youth Games (NYG), said comments describing Team Nigeria’s performance at Rio 2016 Olympics as abysmal worried him.

He said he was in this state because Nigeria’s outing in Rio was better than that of the London 2012 Olympics where the country failed to win a single medal.

Kaduna | Police arrest 7 robbers, rescue 3 victims

The Nigeria Police, Kaduna State Command, has arrested seven armed robbery suspects who invaded Godogodo in Kafanchan Local Government Area of the state on September 24, 2016.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Kaduna.

A senior lawyer, Femi Falana, on Sunday said he would not apologise to former Central Bank Governor Chukwuma Soludo over his allegationthat the ex-bank chief “dolled” out $7 billion government funds to bankers while he was in office.

Mr. Soludo has denied the allegation, saying he acted right in his dealings as Central Bank chief.

Wraps of narcotics were discovered in the collar of a passenger’s jacket at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos. The passenger was nabbed shortly after the suspect disembarked from the aircraft on his way from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 31-year old suspect, Agwu Samuel, confidently wore the jacket containing the drugs but through experience and insight, the drugs were discovered by officers. This is the first discovery of cocaine inside the collar of a jacket by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA.
