National Assets Sale | PENGASSAN threatens to go on strike

A leading union of oil workers has threatened to shut down the country if the federal government carries out the plan to sell national assets as a way out of the current economic recession.

The oil workers under the aegis of The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), described the plan to sell the national assets as a self-destructive move.

Wraps of narcotics were discovered in the collar of a passenger’s jacket at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos. The passenger was nabbed shortly after the suspect disembarked from the aircraft on his way from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 31-year old suspect, Agwu Samuel, confidently wore the jacket containing the drugs but through experience and insight, the drugs were discovered by officers. This is the first discovery of cocaine inside the collar of a jacket by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA.

Militants attack troops in Bakassi, Kills One soldier and two others

The Nigerian Army said that suspected militants led by a wanted kingpin, Benjamin Simplee aka G1, leader of the Bakassi Strike Force, attacked its troops in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State on Saturday, September 24th.

Sani Usman, the Director of Army Public Relations, who confirmed the incident in a statement said a soldier was killed during the attack while the troops killed two of the militants. Other militants escaped with gunshot wounds. The attackers also burnt a military pick-up vehicle.

Lagos State | Over speeding fuel truck kills one after falling and crushing a car

A fuel truck fell and crushed a car at Ikorodu road today 25th Sept, 2016 at about 4:08am. According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the Mack Truck with registration number AGL 664 XG laden with 33,000 litre PMS, belonging to Forte Oil, fell due to the overspeeding of the driver.

 'While the truck was trying to turn at the round-about, it fell on another Hyunda Saloon Car and the only occupant, an unidentified adult male died in the car.'
