Sergio Ramos says he was “surprised” his former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas was not included in Spain coach Julen Lopetegui’s first squad.
Lopetegui named Manchester United’s David De Gea, Napoli’s Pepe Reina and West Ham’s Adrian San Miguel as the three goalkeepers in his selection for the upcoming games against Belgium and Liechtenstein, which meant 35-year-old Porto keeper Casillas missed out.
Casillas, Spain’s most capped player with 167 appearances, lost his place to De Gea at Euro 2016 but Ramos said he had expected him to form part of the coach’s squad.
