President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria will diligently ensure full rehabilitation of victims of Boko Haram and find a lasting solutions to combat threats of terrorism in the country.

Speaking at the opening of the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), in Nairobi, Kenya, President Buhari reaffirmed that Boko Haram terrorists have been degraded, even as the reintegration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country receives immediate attention.

(Photos) Troops kills 5 militants, recovers heavy guns, ammunition


The 133 Special Forces Battalion of Nigerian Army troops have carried out a precursor operation to Exercise CROCODILE SMILE aimed at getting rid of all forms of criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.

In the course of the operation, five militants that attacked the troops were killed in action, while many others were injured. Twenty-three suspects were arrested.

Dakuku Peterside says Wike is running a 419 Government


The All Progressive Congress,APC, in Rivers State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration of lacking the needed prowess to lead the state.

Governorship candidate of the APC in the last general elections in the State, Dakuku Peterside said this when APC faithful gathered at Okehi community, the Headquarters of Etche Local Government Area of the state.

Peterside who is now the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, said Governor Wike is only interested in borrowing money to host what he called irrelevant events while many civil servants are suffering.

NDLEA arrest three suspects after uncovering cocaine hidden inside shoes


Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) detected parcels of cocaine hidden inside the sole of shoes at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.

The consignment of shoes where the cocaine was discovered was said to have originated from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The owner of the luggage have been arrested while two other suspected drug traffickers that tested positive and excreted narcotic are also being investigated. A white powdery substance found to be cocaine with a total weight of 3.950kgs were seized from the suspects.

NDLEA orders investigation of pilgrims who were arrested for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia


Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd.) has ordered investigation into the arrest of three Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia in connection with substances suspected to be cocaine. 

Abdallah who expressed disappointment over the unfortunate incident constituted a panel of inquiry headed by the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Mr. Olugbenga Mabo to immediately investigate the incident adding that the Agency will address the situation with every sense of seriousness and urgency. The Agency had also deployed more investigators to all the screening camps nationwide. In a press release yesterday, August 26th, the NDLEA boss said,

The Kwara Government on Saturday said it had discovered 1,071 workers illegally recruited into the state’s civil service within the last few months.

Abuja | Heavy rainfall cuts off Kuchiyakwo community


The continuous rainfall in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that started on Friday to Saturday morning has cut off Kuchiyakwo community from other neighbouring communities in the area.

Tunisia swears in new premier, cabinet members


Tunisia’s new Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and members of his cabinet were sworn in on Saturday, the presidency said, after approval from parliament.

The prime minister and his 26 ministers swore to “work devotedly for the good of Tunisia” and to “respect its constitution and laws”, it said.

Chahed, at 40, is the country’s youngest prime minister since independence from France in 1956.
