NDLEA orders investigation of pilgrims who were arrested for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia


Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd.) has ordered investigation into the arrest of three Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia in connection with substances suspected to be cocaine. 

Abdallah who expressed disappointment over the unfortunate incident constituted a panel of inquiry headed by the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Mr. Olugbenga Mabo to immediately investigate the incident adding that the Agency will address the situation with every sense of seriousness and urgency. The Agency had also deployed more investigators to all the screening camps nationwide. In a press release yesterday, August 26th, the NDLEA boss said,

Kwara State Government uncovers 1,071 illegally recruited workers


The Kwara Government on Saturday said it had discovered 1,071 workers illegally recruited into the state’s civil service within the last few months.

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, made this known in llorin while speaking at the launch of a book entitled "My Public Service at the Heart of National Development".

Abuja | Heavy rainfall cuts off Kuchiyakwo community


The continuous rainfall in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that started on Friday to Saturday morning has cut off Kuchiyakwo community from other neighbouring communities in the area.

The heavy rainfall has flooded some houses and washed away the road linking Kuchiyakwo Ecwa Church and its extension in the community.

Some residents of the community who spoke with the NAN on Saturday described the state of the road as devastating and called on Kuje Area Council authorities for immediate action.

Tunisia swears in new premier, cabinet members


Tunisia’s new Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and members of his cabinet were sworn in on Saturday, the presidency said, after approval from parliament.

The prime minister and his 26 ministers swore to “work devotedly for the good of Tunisia” and to “respect its constitution and laws”, it said.

Chahed, at 40, is the country’s youngest prime minister since independence from France in 1956.

Rivers State | Four feared killed in suspected cult clash


No fewer than four persons were, yesterday, feared dead during a cult clash between suspected cults groups in two communities of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was learnt that the two cult groups that has been threatening peace in the area over supremacy battle clashed again last night resulting in the deaths and destructions of valuables in the area.

Kano State Government on Saturday said it would introduce stiffer penalty for violators of its monthly environmental sanitation regulation.

The Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Ali Makoda, stated this shortly after monitoring the exercise in Kano metropolis.

India Police arrest Nigerian man with 4.5 KG of Cocaine


36-year-old Nigerian arrested by India Police in Mangaluru, Karnataka with 4.5 KG of Cocaine.

The suspect, Emeka Clinton Obinna, was said to be transporting cocaine from Goa to Bengaluru.

Mangaluru City police said Emeka acted as a mule for drug traders in south India. He would procure drugs and other contraband material from smugglers in Goa and handover the same to traders in Bengaluru.
