New Study Shows Zika May Grow in Vagina


A mouse study has suggested that Zika virus may reproduce in the vagina of pregnant women several days after infection, from where it spreads and infects the fetal brain and impairing fetal development. This is contained in a new study published on Friday in Washington in the U.S. journal Cell by researchers from the Yale University.

The researchers observed that Zika is commonly transmitted through a bite from an infected mosquito, and recent reports have confirmed it is also capable of leaping from person to person through sexual transmission.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello was reportedly pelted with stones and sachets of pure water yesterday shortly after the Jumaat prayers held at the Central mosque Lokoja, the state capital.

The governor who had gone to the mosque for prayers to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the state holding yesterday was said to have been attacked by an angry mob who allegedly complained of hunger and hard times now ravaging the state.

Senator Stella Oduah, representing the Anambra North Senatorial District, on Friday tragically lost her son after a brief illness in a private hospital in Abuja.

The unconfirmed source claims that the deceased, whose name had yet to be known as of the time of this post, was 28 and that he died in the early hours of Friday.
