Federal Government Signs Agreement with Swiss Authorities to return USD321million

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN has charged lawyers in the country to fashion out, promote and defend a national culture that would regard obedience to the rule of law as a desirable goal, rather than an aberration.

He gave this charge in a paper he delivered at the on­going 56th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association and titled, ‘One Year Later: Review of Law and Change Under the Buhari Administration’ in Port Harcourt, River s State.

Buhari Replies Emir of Kano, 'Advice me in Writing'

A day after blistering public remarks on his economic policies by the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, President Muhammadu Buhari has requested top traditional rulers in the country to henceforth put their advice across to him in private written memos.

Buhari made the request yesterday through the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who visited him at the Presidential Villa as follow up on a private memo he wrote to the president on the state of the nation.

EKiti State Assembly passes bill to ban free grazing

Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the bill to ban free grazing in the state.

The bill also prescribed six months imprisonment without an option of fine for any offender of the bill that also ban movement of cattle after 6pm in the state.

The passage of the bill followed the submission of a report of Joint Committees on Agriculture and Environment by its Chairman, Mr Ayodele Fajemilehin, to the House.

European Union Partners Federal Government in Resolving Niger Delta Crisis

As Federal Government in­creases its efforts aimed at finding lasting solution to the crisis in the Niger Delta that has led to the loss of about 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily, the European Union has indicat­ed interest in partnering with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

This was revealed at meet­ing between the Minister of Ni­ger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani and a delegation from the European Union and the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) led by Michel Arrion.

Expressing his delight at the proposed collaboration, Usani reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government at curb­ing the crisis as part of efforts to sustain the development of the region.

Nigeria’s Ministers of Sports, Finance have cases to answer – Senator Ogba on #Rio2016 Performance

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogba on Thursday, lamented the poor performance of Nigerian athletes in the just concluded Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Ogba attributed the poor performance of the athletes to non-release of funds meant for the exercise, recalling that his committee had invited the Minister of Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalong who repeatedly told the committee that funds were released to that effect.
