Zamfara State Governor says students burnt to death over alleged blasphemy were Muslims, not Christians


Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari yesterday debunked insinuations that the crises which saw 9 burnt to death in Talata-Mafara,was a religious clash in which Christians were killed.

According to him, those killed were Muslims. He promised to ensure that the killers are brought to book.

Speaking with reporters after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Yari said:

A young Pakistani woman was fighting for her life in hospital last night after her own father and brother-in-law allegedly tried to stone her death in an attempted honour killing.

Her male friend was killed in the shocking incident.

According to Daily Mirror,police believe married Shakila Khan, 22, was followed on Wednesday to a house in Ghari, Swat Valley by her brother-in-law who found her alone with a local man called Bilal, 27.

Despicable! Woman's chopped body parts found dumped in Nairobi (Very Graphic Footage)


A woman was killed and her body parts dumped in Umoja Estate in Nairobi, Kenya. The woman’s head, hands and legs were found late Monday August 22, and taken to the City Mortuary but the torso has not been located. 

The body parts were found in a black plastic bag and thrown in a thicket near Fadhili Primary School.

Police arrest 2, Kill 1 after Bandits invade Enugu


Two suspected armed bandits were on Wednesday arrested while one was killed during a gun duel with operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, a police spokesperson, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, has said. 

A statement from Amaraizu in Enugu said that the hoodlums had allegedly operated on Edinburgh Road, Ogui New Layout and Rangers Avenue, Independence Layout. He said that the two hoodlums were arrested during a manhunt mounted by the police, adding that several arms were recovered.

NAFDAC shutdown bakery overuse of potassium bromide


The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Niger said it had sealed a bakery in Lapai Area Council of the state for using potassium bromide for baking bread.

Mr Anikoh Ibrahim, the State Coordinator of NAFDAC, disclosed this on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.

Nigerian Copyright Commission nabs 15 pirates, seizes goods worth N60m


The Lagos zonal office of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), has arrested 15 suspected pirates and seized goods worth N60 million in the last seven months.

Mr Uwem Udoh, the Zonal Manager, on Wednesday in Lagos said that the commission carried out the anti-piracy raids in Ojo, Somolu, and Festac town.

He said that the action was also extended to some major markets in the state.
