Imo State: Police parade Notorious Armed Robbery Gang with Large Stash Of Arms Recovered (Photo)


Imo State Police Command has nabbed a five-man gang of armed robbers who invaded a victim’s (names withheld) compound at Umukabia Nkwerre and carted away property and cash.

Among items recovered from the gangsters are a Nissan Xterra Jeep with Reg. No KSF 829 MM, assorted electronic gadgets, a generator and handsets, according to Punch.

Parading the suspects and 30 others, the State Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, told newsmen in Owerri that a team was quickly dispatched to the scene where the kingpin, one Chinoso Okoroafor from Ihiala, Anambra State, James Eze, native of Oguta, Onyeka Uchendu from Ubomiri, Mbaitoli LGA and Tina Damian, wife of one of the suspects, were arrested.

Atiku says He has no hand in PDP crisis


Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Sunday denied any involvement in the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party.

Atiku was reacting to a story in a national newspaper, which linked him with the crisis in the party.

In a post on Twitter by his media office, Atiku said he had no hands in the PDP’s problems.

Sri Lanka airline suspends drunk pilot


Sri Lanka’s national carrier has suspended a captain who failed a breathalyser test just before he was due to fly 274 passengers and crew from Frankfurt to Colombo, the airline said Sunday.
“Upon receiving the results (of the test) SriLankan Airlines took immediate steps to suspend the services of the said captain and took alternative measures to operate the flight to Colombo,” the airline said in a statement.

A blast at an outdoor wedding party in the south Turkish city of Gaziantep has killed at least 50 people and injured 94 more, the authorities say.

The blast, which occurred at around 11pm local time on Saturday in the Akdere neighbourhood of Sahin Bey district, was a "terror attack", according to Ali Yerlikaya, the governor of Gaziantep.

He said ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and dead and wounded people were taken to hospitals, Aljazeera reports.

Police AIG request case files of man who named dog Buhari


The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Zone II Command Headquarters in Lagos, Abdulmajid Ali, had called for the transfer of the case file of a man alleged to have named his dog ‘Buhari.’

Ali said the case should be transferred to his desk without delay.
“For now, the AIG Zone II has called for a meeting that we want to call the parties involved in the matter to see how the matter could be resolved,” Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told Premium Times.
