The Japanese Billionaire who promised coach Samson Siasia and his boys a huge amount of money if they win Gold, Silver or Bronze in the football event at Rio has fulfilled his promise.
He presented a $190k cheque to Mikel Obi and $200k cheque to Samson Siasia, a total of $390k.

FIFA U-17 World Cup Champions, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria has been dumped out of the AFCON U-17 qualifiers after losing 1-3 to Niger yesterday in Niamey.

Kwara State | Woman found Dead in Mosque’s Well
A 65-year old woman, who was in charge of ensuring proper sanitary condition of a mosque in llorin, Kwara State was found dead inside a well at the mosque premises on Saturday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident occurred at Ansarul Deen Mosque, Osere area of Sawmill in llorin West Local Government Area of the state.
Eye witnesses’ account revealed that the dead woman popularly known as “lya Majeobaje” fell into the well on Friday while fetching water to clean the mosque.

Chief Williams Mkpah, the Transitional Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area has said that sea pirates kidnapped eight fishermen fishing in Akwa Ibom.
Mkpah confirmed the kidnap in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom on Saturday.
According to him, Ibeno is prone to sea piracy activities.

Police AIG request case files of man who named dog Buhari
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Zone II Command Headquarters in Lagos, Abdulmajid Ali, had called for the transfer of the case file of a man alleged to have named his dog ‘Buhari.’
Ali said the case should be transferred to his desk without delay.
“For now, the AIG Zone II has called for a meeting that we want to call the parties involved in the matter to see how the matter could be resolved,” Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told Premium Times.

Police say they have arrested three people suspected to be pipeline vandals in Akwa Ibom State.
The three suspects were among seven suspected criminals paraded before journalists at the Police Headquarters in Uyo, the state’s capital in southeast Nigeria.
Parading the suspects, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Cordelia Nwawe, said the suspects were arrested at a hotel in Eket, following intelligence reports.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been elected as the President of the Association of African Central Banks (AACB).
Mr Emefiele was elected at the 39th ordinary meeting of the Assembly of Governors of the AACB in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
He succeeds Mr Lucas Nchama who is now the Governor of the Bank Of Central African States.
Mr Emefiele would be President of the AACB from 2016 to 2017.

The Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier General Abraham Dusu, said the military has embarked on an operation to flush out insurgents and other criminal elements in Bauchi State forests.

Jigawa Government releases N280m for 2016 hajj operation
Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, on Saturday, said he had released the sum of N280 million for the 2016 hajj operation.
Badaru made this disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the departure of some intending pilgrims from the state at Dutse International Airport to Saudi Arabia.
He explained that the money would be used for the feeding of the pilgrims and other contingencies during the hajj in the holy land.
