A 71-year-old man has decided that he wants to donate his life savings to help care for his pet dog.

Wang Jungwu, from Harbin, China, lost both his wife and his son early in life. Since then, he's only been accompanied by his pet dog, Er Fu, according to People's Daily Online.

But with failing health, he's made the difficult decision to leave everything in his will to his sole companion for the last 11 years.

Two persons nab for vandalising NITEL cables offer police N500k bribe (Photo)


The police in Lagos have arrested two suspects for alleged vandalism of NITEL underground cables in Ikeja.

The suspects, Taofeek Babatunde, 33 and Ibrahim Sise, who were paraded at the command headquarters on Monday, were also accused of offering N500, 000 bribe to the policemen who caught them.

According to police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, the suspects were caught by an anti-crime patrol team of the Ikeja Police Division.

16-year-old housemaid tortured with iron by boss and neighbour (Photo)


A woman, Fatima Williams, and her neighbour, Waliu Yusuf, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly brutalising a 16-year-old girl, identified only as Kemi, with a hot iron and electric cables.

It was learnt that the Kemi who was brought from Cotonou, Benin Republic, had been reportedly living with Williams, popularly called Alhaja, on Soji Adepegba Close, Allen Avenue, Ikeja,since January 2016 as a housemaid.

It was gathered that the victim was allegedly tortured for not sweeping Williams’ compound last Thursday.

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Segun Enikuemehin, who dared to ask some military men who were assaulting a civilian to desist from such a dastardly act is currently at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) with one of his eyes totally damaged.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Mr. Enikuemehin came upon the military men beating a harmless civilian,reports Sahara Reporters.

Convinced that the military officials would beat the man to death if nothing was done, he reportedly walked up the angry soldiers and pleaded that they let the man go or hand him over to the police if he had done something illegal.

Nasarawa State | NDLEA officials kill headmaster


Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Sunday allegedly shot dead a primary schoolteacher, Abubakar Inusa, in Nunku community, in the Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

A witness, who did not want his name in print, said that the NDLEA officials invaded the community at about 8pm and shot sporadically into the air.

A New York man has been charged with the double murder of a Imam and his friend, in a brutal daylight slaying that has shocked Muslim communities across the US.

Police said late on Monday that Oscar Morel, 35, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder over the deaths of Imam Maulama Akonjee, 55, and Thara Uddin, 64, just hours after thousands of mourners gathered for the funeral of the two men.

Prisons board dismisses 23 officers, suspend 11 others over recent Jailbreaks


The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) has sacked three senior Prisons officers serving in Kuje Medium Security prison and three other senior officers serving in Koton Karfe prison for their alleged complicity in the escape of prisoners from the respective prisons.

The board took the decision at its emergency meeting held on Thursday 11th August, 2016.

The dismissal letters dated 12th August, 2016 were signed by the Secretary to the Board Alhaji A A Ibrahim.

Governor Mimiko’s Commissioner, Special Assistant resign, defect to APC


The Ondo State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperative Services, Yetunde Adeyanju, has resigned her appointment.

Similarly, Hon. Giwa Rasheed, a Special Assistant to Governor Olusegun Mimiko has also resigned.

Troops nabs Corper, others for vandalizing national assets in Borno (PHOTOS)


Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE on patrol at the outskirts of Maiduguri metropolis, Borno State, on Monday, arrested four suspected vandals of critical national assets.

The patrol team intercepted Aliyu Jubril, 24 years and a member of National Youth Service Corps; Ismail Baba, 22, and a student of Ramat Polytechnic; Mohammed Suleiman, 25, a driver and Mohammed Bukar, 15, and assistant to the driver, at Silo along Maiduguri-Damboa road while attempting to cart away heavy armoured cable belonging to Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) they had vandalized.

ASUU strongly against Ishaq Oloyede's appointment as JAMB Registrar, calls for his probe


The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has strongly kicked against the appointment of former Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor Ishaq Oloyede as JAMB Registrar.

The union is, therefore, calling for his probe, saying that his era as Vice Chancellor was marred with anti-democratic and anti-union antecedents.

ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi while addressing newsmen in Lagos on Monday said, “Given our inside knowledge of his anti-democratic and anti-union antecedents antecedents, Professor Oloyede is the last person that we expected to be so honoured with a national appointment of that status in the education sector.”
