Woman who Nigerian Army declared wanted, replies, says she will turn herself in


Aisha Wakil, along with Journalist Ahmed Salkida and Amb Ahmed U. Bolori were declared wanted by the Nigerian Army yesterday in connection with information on the conditions and the exact location of Chibok school girls abducted by Boko Haram 2 years ago. Wakil who is strongly believed to have direct links to Boko Haram, has now responded via an interview with Premium Times.

According to Aisha Wakil, she received news of her being wanted with rude shock, because she is not a stranger to the military.

Federal Government pleads with ex-militants over delayed allowances


After several failed promises of the payment of allowances to ex-militanta, the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (Rtd) has again, appealed to ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region not to lose hope in the Federal Government.

He pleaded that the ex-agitators should continue to have confidence in the ability of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in effecting the payment of their monthly stipends despite seeming hiccups in the payment process.

MEND says IPOB’s Kanu accepted to renounce Biafra in secret


The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, today, took the the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, to the cleaners, saying he agreed in secret to renounce ‘Biafra’ in exchange for freedom, only to act hypocritically in public after sealing discussion with MEND on the matter.

Spokesperson of MEND, Jomo Gbomo, in a vitriolic statement, said: “The attention of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has been drawn to the recent spate of hypocritical and provocative statements issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu,”

Woman bags 10 years sentence for kidnapping newborn baby


A South African court Monday handed down a 10-year prison term to a woman who kidnapped a newborn baby from her sleeping mother in hospital 19 years ago, local media reported.

In passing the sentence, a judge in the High Court in Cape Town emphasised the seriousness of the crime by the 52-year-old woman, News24 said.

The kidnapping victim, who her family named Zephany Nurse, was taken from a maternity ward at Groote Schuur Hospital in 1997. Her kidnapper raised her as her own.

Nigerian Journalist, Ahmad Salkida, Ahmed Bolori and Aisha Alkali Wakil (Mama Boko Haram) were declared wanted for questioning by the Nigerian Army yesterday after Boko Haram members released a video of some of the abducted Chibok girls.

This has attracted a vicious response from Aisha Alkali Wakil, a lawyer who reportedly had a secret meeting with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2013 while discussing a possible amnesty for the Boko Haram terrorists.

In Osun State | NDLEA destroys 21 hectares of cannabis


The Osun state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has said it destroyed about 21.4 Hectares of cannabis sativa farm located at Onikete farm settlement in Isokan Local Government area of the state.

The State Commandant Mrs Sylvia Egwunwoke who spoke to Channels Television at her office in Oshogbo the state capital, shortly after the destruction, says the command was alerted about the farm settlement by residents in a nearby village near Onikete Farm settlement.

Embattled factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff, has said on Channels Tv, that  he will not allow the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, succeed in their alleged plot to hijack the party.

This is as he said he would not withdraw any of the cases he had instituted against the party.

He said, “We will not let PDP to be hijacked by a few people like Governor Fayose and the governor of Rivers State. They have a script that they want someone to act, but I am a man of principle. This is not about Ali Sheriff; it is about democracy, and the rule of law.

Group tells Federal Govt to Extradite and Prosecute Ahmed Salkida


The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism  (CATE) has accused a journalist, Ahmed Salkida of over stepping his journalistic privileges and turning himself into a sympathizer and propaganda tool for the terrorists Boko Haram group.

The group therefore urged the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to immediately charge Ahmad Salkida to court under the Terrorism (Prevention) (Amendment) Act, 2013 even if it is in abstentia.

Addressing a journalists in Abuja, national cordinator of CATE, Gabriel Onoja said the Federal Government must then on the strength of the charges to be filed against Salkida apply for his extradition by the United Arab Emirates.
