Budget Padding: How Buhari plans to deal with Dogara, others

With conflicting claims by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and his allies that the anti-corruption agencies lack powers to try them for padding the 2016 budget, it has emerged that the Federal Government has already settled on how to deal with any of them found wanting.

Vanguard learned from competent sources close to the matter that the Federal Government has unleashed its agents to shop for credible evidence of criminal adulteration of the budget that would make it difficult for any of the key suspects  to escape prosecution.

Borno State | Nigeria Troops kill 16 Boko Haram insurgents

The troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 16 Boko Haram insurgents at Kangarwa, Borno State.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Monday that the 16 insurgents were killed by the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole while repealing an attack by the insurgents at Kangarwa on Sunday.

Usman added that an officer and 11 soldiers were injured during the gum battle with the Boko Haram.

Edo State workers overwhelmed over payment of 7 months salary

The joy of workers of Egor local government council, Edo State, knew no bound on Monday following the payment of seven months of the 17 months owed them.

The jubilant workers commended members of the State House of Assembly for the approval and timely release of funds for the payment of the salary arrears.

Rivers State | EFCC arrests fake lawyer over N7m scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), says it has arrested one Thankgod Echem it described as a fake lawyer for defrauding his client of seven million naira in Port Harcourt.

This, is contained in a statement issued by Mr Wilson Uwujaren, the commission`s Head of Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Monday.

Uwujaren said Echem, who confessed to being a school certificate holder, was arrested following a petition to the EFCC by one of his clients, Mr Jonny Wali.

Saudi Arabia | Six illegal Migrants from Nigeria arrested

Saudi Arabia has intercepted a boat carrying 31 illegal migrants, including six Nigerians, that was trying to reach the kingdom, the Border Guards force said on Monday.

The guards have reported repeated interceptions of migrants in the Red Sea over the past two months.

In the latest case, a patrol “foiled an attempt by a group of 31 people from different nationalities to enter Saudi waters on a wooden boat”, Border Guards spokesman Colonel Sahir al-Harbi said.

According to the 59 year old Atambayev, who has been the President of Kyrgyzstan since December 2011, terrorists are insane people and that even clothing can change one's thinking process.  Atambayev also said that he'll prefer his country's women to wear mini skirts rather than dress up the Islamic way.

Ex Man City Footballer dies after being tasered by police

Former Aston Villa striker Dalian Atkinson has died after being tasered by police in Telford, Shropshire. The 48-year-old died 90 minutes after he was hit by a stun gun on Monday morning August 15, at around 1.30am in the Trench area of Telford, Shropshire, UK.

West Mercia Police can confirm that officers responded to a report for the concern for the safety of an individual at approximately 1.30am this morning at an address in Telford," the force said in a statement.
