Kerosene now sells for N150 per litre from NNPC depots - NUPENG

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) says the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has fixed N150 per litre as the official depot price of kerosene.

Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, the South-West Chairman of the union, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday. 

According to him, the price will encourage more importation of the product by the marketers. He said that most of the filling stations selling kerosene between N200 and N220 as the pump price was as a result of additional money on transportation of the product and some other levies paid by marketers. 

We are not aware of plan to retrench in NPA - Senior Staff, Adegbeyemi

The Senior Staff Association of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) says it is not aware of any plan by the authority to retrench workers.

The president of the association, Mr Benson Adegbeyeni said this on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said the management of NPA had not briefed the association on matters in involving retrenchment of workers.

CAN President says Nigerian Christians under siege

National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Supo Ayokunle says Nigerian Christians are under siege.

Ayokunle, who spoke last night at the Reedemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG’s) Convention at the Redemption Ground, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, said incessant attack on Christians in the country by terrorists and others had made them to be under siege.

He said there had never been a time Nigerian Christians were under siege than now and called on Christians to pray for the survival of Christianity in the country.

NFF hands Gernot Rohr Super Eagles Coaching Job

The Nigeria Football Federation has selected a German, Gernot Rohr, to manage the Super Eagles.

The NFF President Amaju Pinnick confirmed the development on Friday.

The NFF boss confirmed that the German, who is currently working on development programmes for the German Football Federation, is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday (today).

Nigeria Customs intercept 16 containers of tyres for false declaration

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Retired Col. Hameed Ali, said on Friday that the Apapa Customs Command had intercepted 16 containers of tyres with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N116.2 million.

Ali made the disclosure at a news conference at the Apapa Customs Command in Lagos. He said that the seizures were made as a result of false declaration by the agents.

Two Kenyan women are currently receiving treatment at the Nyahururu County Referral hospital after they were attacked by their husbands in separate incidents.

32-year-old Zipporah Wanjugu is nursing serious injuries on both hands and head, which she sustained after her husband attacked her with a panga (large knife) on Wednesday night, August 3rd at their home in Wiyumiririe village in Laikipia County.

Vivian Moraa, 23 a labourer at Suera Flowers Company, claims her husband picked a panga and told her that he would chop off her hands ‘just like the other lady who was on TV'.

Kogi State Governor's convoy bump into an accident scene between Gegu and Abaji on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway Friday.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on New Media, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the accident involved an SUV and a commercial bus which was traveling from Lagos to Kano. Both vehicles were said to have been engulfed in flames burning 16 passengers to death. 3 of the dead passengers were in the SUV while 13 were occupants of the bus.

Alert! Lagos State Government close Marine Bridge/Road in Apapa for repair work

The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Marine Bridge Road (Inward Ijora) preparatory to the commencement of repair works by the contractors of the Federal Ministry of Works. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transport, Dayo Mobereola, states that the emergency and immediate closure is to also allow the Federal Ministry carryout studies to determine the state of the Bridge and effect appropriate repairs.

The state Government has put in place effective traffic management strategies that will mitigate the impact of the closure. Accordingly, the following routes can be use by commuters as alternate route. They are:

Family members brand 14 year old girl as hero for killing her father

A 14-year-old girl, Bresha Meadows, has been arrested and jailed in the Trumbull County Family Court in Ohio. Bresha is facing aggravated murder charges for killing her own father, 41 year old Jonathan Meadows, but her family says she did it to protect her mother and her family. Bresha Meadows has been accused of shooting her father with his own gun in their Warren home at 4 am on July 28.
