Eighteen-year-old Lauren Rincon, from California, told Mirror Online how she had left her expensive Too Faced palette on her bed before popping out for an hour.

When she got back she realised her one-year-old baby niece - who had been playing with her son's toys in her bedroom - had discovered the chocolate-themed make-up.

Governor Wike addresses feud with Amaechi


Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers said on Friday that he has no personal problem with his predecessor, Mr Chibuike Amaechi.

Wike disclosed this at the 12 All Nigeria Editors Conference holding in Port Harcourt.

However, Wike explained that he and the Minister of Transportation differed politically because they belonged to different parties.

Niger State Government Spends Over 3bn Naira On Roads


The Niger State government says it has spent over three billion Naira on road construction and rehabilitation in the last one year of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Bello.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr Abdulmalik Cheche, gave the figure in an interview with Channels Television in Minna on the one year stewardship of the ministry.

Mr Cheche, who was optimistic of the government’s performance, gave the assurance that good roads would be provided for the people of the state, considering the importance of road to the economy of any society.

Dwindling Economic | Prices of Rice, Beans, Maize Go Up in the Market



The prices of commodities like imported rice, maize , beans, palm oil, sorghum and others have continued to rise at the Mile 12 Market in Lagos. 
 
This is reflected in the commodity index update, prepared by Novus Agro Nigeria Ltd, an agro-based firm, and made available to newsmen on Friday in Lagos. 
 
According to the index, a 50kg bag of imported rice currently selling at N16,857 was sold for N14,800 last week, thus recording a whopping N2,057 increase.

WAEC Releases 2016 May/June Examination Results


The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), on Friday released the 2016 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on their website as it withheld the results of 137,295 candidates, representing 8.89% candidates.

A total of eight hundred and seventy eight thousand and forty (878,040) candidates, representing 52.97%, obtained credits in five (5) subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics, the exam council said.

NDLEA nab four Nigeria, a Malian with 4,580kgs of drugs


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a Malian and four Nigerians for allegedly dealing in the sale of 4,580kgs  of psychotropic drugs in Kano.

The seized drugs comprising 2,592kgs of codeine cough syrups and 1,988kgs of tramadol were recovered from five secret warehouses located within the metropolis by officers of the Kano State command. This arrest is part of efforts to reduce the sale of and demand for psychotropic substances in the State.

Herdsmen banditry will not be tolerated – Buhari


President Muhammadu Buhari declared on Friday that Nigeria has had enough of incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country.

He said government had, accordingly, mandated security agencies to put an end to the problem.
“On the matter of herdsmen/farmers clashes, I wish to state that this administration will not tolerate or condone acts of banditry and criminality, under any guise. As such, our security agencies have been mandated to deal with such acts decisively,” Buhari said at the graduation of members of Course 24 of the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja.

South Africa’s MTN cuts dividend after reporting $357m loss


Africa’s biggest mobile phone operator MTN Group Ltd reported a $357 million half-year loss on Friday and cut dividend payouts, after a hefty regulatory fine in Nigeria and underperformance in its South African home market.

Founded with the South African government’s help after the end of apartheid in 1994, MTN agreed in June to pay a 330 billion naira ($1.05 billion) fine in a settlement with Nigerian authorities for missing a deadline to cut off unregistered SIM cards from its network.

Economy Experts foresee more hardship as dollar scarcity persists


The economic crisis facing the country will worsen if the current dollar scarcity rocking the financial sector continues, experts have said.

The naira plunged to 400 against the dollar at the parallel market on Thursday after sinking to 390 a day earlier due to demand by manufacturers and the summer rush by Nigerians.

This, analysts explained, would likely result in an increase in the country’s inflation rate, which hit 16.5 per cent in June.
