Anambra State | Pregnant Woman Sells Unborn Baby For N100,000


The Anambra State Police Command on Thursday paraded a 29-year-old woman, Chidinma Okorie, and two medical doctors for alleged child trafficking.

The doctors, who were said to be Okorie’s accomplices, were identified as Emmanuel Tobechukwu and Cosmos Ugorji.

Okorie said she had sold two children since she was introduced into the illegal trade by a woman whom she claimed was an evangelist.

Nigerian Woman Arrested On Indo-nepal Border With 3.5 Kg Of Cocaine


Press Trust of India has reported the arrest of a Nigerian woman for smuggling cocaine worth Rs 17.8 crore in Gorakhpur region of Uttar Pradesh, on Indo-Nepal border on Thursday, August 4th. 

The woman identified as Veneeta, 36, was arrested while she was coming from Nepal and 3.5 kilogram was recovered from her possession, Chandra Sekhar Azad, an NIA Inspector, said. She has been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, he added.

5-year-old Girl found wandering after stepmother sent out to hawk


This 5 year old girl who lives with her stepmother was found wandering on the streets of Yenagoa, Bayelsa state on Tuesday August 2nd. Facebook user, Pre-gee Binaibi shared the photos and wrote:

Five Dead After Villagers Mistook Soldiers For Invading Herdsmen


At least five persons were reported dead, two injured and four vehicles destroyed, Thursday, following the invasion of Kpaidma village in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State by a joint military team of the Army and the Air Force.

The military team reportedly stormed the village around 1am in search of arms and ammunition in the village.

There were allegations that weapons were stockpiled in the village, hence, the invasion.

An alleged robber on a motorcycle met his end at the hands of the Russian vice-consul in Rio who dragged the thief into his car and shot him dead at pointblank range.

Sweden will, "for the time being", not deport Turkish asylum seekers linked to the country’s political opposition in the wake of last month’s attempted coup in Turkey, authorities said on Wednesday.

The Swedish Migration Agency’s decision applies to individuals who have “credible links” to the failed July 15 coup attempt in Turkey.

Including supporters of preacher Fethullah Gulen who lives in the U.S. and members of the political opposition.

PDP says ‘Fayose And Mimiko Are Far Better Than Ambode’


The Lagos state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, said that contrary to a recent poll by the African Leadership Magazine, Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, is not the best performing governor in Nigeria.

2016 Hajj Pilgrims to Buy Dollar At N197 - CBN


The Central Bank of Nigeria has directed commercial banks to sell dollar to Pilgrims heading to the 2016 Hajj at the exchange rate of N197.

The move follows the continued fall of the Nigerian naira against the greenback as the naira exchanged for N400 at the close of business on Thursday.

The Central Bank however set a limit to the exchange amount as it placed the minimum amount to be exchanged at $750 with its maximum limit set at $1000 per pilgrim.

A firefighter from the airport civil defence died saving lives during the firefighting operations after an Emirates aircraft caught fire while landing at Dubai International airport on Wednesday.

Jassim Eissa Mohammed Hassan Al Balochi was buried today in Al Salehiya cemetery, Ras Al Khaimah. Shaikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah attended the funeral.
