Serious Commotion in Adamawa Community as Herdsmen Attack Leaves No Less Than 30 dead


People of Adamawa State who brought out the corpses of the slain members of the community from the bush have said the recovery of 8 bodies had raised the death toll from the Fulani attacks to 30. 

Following the discovery of eight more corpses, the death toll from the latest Fulani herdsmen attacks on Kodomun community which started on Friday in Adamawa State, has hit 30, as the state Police Commissioner, Mohammed Ghazzali has been criticised over his comment and handling of the situation.

A 21-year-old man is currently in Police custody in Tema, Ghana for attempting to behead his friend for rituals. Charles Ashitey, also known as Zaga was arrested by some residents of Tema Newtown after his attempt to behead his 19-year-old friend, Daniel Norteye, failed.

According to the Police, on 31st July 2016, Norteye was tired after a dance rehearsal and decided to spend the night in the room of the suspect.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) for its supposed agreement with the Federal Government over the release of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

It described the purported negotiation as a “kangaroo agreement and a jamboree.”

A statement from the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful said the group only accepted the unconditional release of its leaders, insisting that only Kanu can negotiate on behalf of the group. The group vowed not to renounce the struggle for the restoration of Biafra state.

NDLEA nabs 31-year-old man with hard drugs worth N1.78bn


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra says it has arrested a 31-year-old man, Vincent Chidiebere, for allegedly peddling hard drug worth N1.78 billion.

Addressing newsmen in Onitsha on Tuesday, the Commander of NDLEA in the state, Mr Sule Momodu, said that the suspect was arrested in Awka on July 28 with methamphetamine weighing 25.2kg.

Momodu said that the arrest followed a tip-off that a shipment of methamphetamine would pass through Anambra from Enugu to Lagos.

Katsina State Government distributes 720 goats to women


The Katsina State Government has distributed 720 high breed of goats worth N104 million for distribution to women under its Women Empowerment Scheme.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Nasir, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Empowerment, disclosed this on Tuesday in Katsina at the launching of the programme.

He said that each of 240 women selected across the 34 local governments would be given two female goats and one male goat.

The official said that the animals, which were purchased in Niger Republic, were highly reproductive and good for breeding.

At Least Five Killed in Charter Bus Crash in California


A charter bus crash early Tuesday morning in Merced, California, killed at least five people and injured others, officials told NBC affiliate KCRA.
