South Africa | Two Nigerians Killed In Fresh Attacks
Barely three days after Ikejiaku Chinedu, a 35-year-old Nigerian businessman, was beaten to death in South Africa, two other Nigerians have been killed in the country.
The fresh cases of death bring to 17, the total number of Nigerians killed in 2016 alone.
Lamenting over the incessant killings, Ikechukwu Anyene, president, the Nigeria Union in South Africa, called for the intervention of the federal government.
Militants blow up Agip Pipeline in Delta State
Niger Militants on Sunday blew up a crude pipeline operated by Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell in Delta State.
The incident occurred at about 1:00 am near Odimodi community in Delta State, a local source confirmed.
The pipeline had been previously targeted by militants.
Militants Call off Plans to Declare Niger Delta Republic as Goodluck Jonathan Intervenes
The Adaka Boro Avengers (ABA) has heeded please by the Federal Government and suspended today’s proposed declaration of Niger Delta republic. However, the group vowed that they “will not stop until the Nigerian government is ready to sit on a roundtable to dialogue and to restructure Nigeria.”
The group further issued a warning to the Federal Government against having any discussion with the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) describing MEND as “greedy fellows” who are only after “stipends.”

The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi has congratulated the Federal Government on the recent commissioning of the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.
The FRSC boss, who stated that the new development, would reduce road mishaps along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway drastically, added that the cost of obtaining driving license remained N6, 350 for three years and N10, 350 for five years.
He made this disclosure in Lagos at the weekend during the annual training workshop organized by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA).
Dino Melaye drags Manitoba to EFCC over N13.8bn fraud
Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory and Founder of Anti-Corruption Network, ACN, Senator Dino Melaye, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to probe Manitoba Hydro International Nigeria Limited for alleged abuse of Public Procurement Act and diversion of funds amounting to N13.8 billion.
In his petition already submitted to the Director of Public Affairs of the Agency, Osita Nwaja, Melaye said the company was awarded a management contract to oversee the Transmission Company of Nigeria assets and liabilities after the privatisation and unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to Generating Companies and Distribution Companies by the Bureau of Public Enterprises in March 2012 for a term of three years.

Suspected Cultists kill four in Ikorodu rampage
Suspected cult members of a six-man gang, over the weekend, shot dead four persons at 24 Road, in the Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the suspected cultists arrived the community around 8pm on two motorcycles.
Rasheed Yusuf, aka Low Banger, a 63-year-old native doctor, who was walking along the road, was the first target.
The attackers according to reports also shot at Rasheed’s wife, Falilat, and a two-year-old girl, Kehinde, both died on the spot.
'Have a nice afterlife' - 14-year-old girl says after slitting her brother's girlfriend's throat
A 14-year-old teenager, Kali Jade Bookey from New Richmond, Wisconsin, was charged as an adult by police on 28 July with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and if convicted, she could be jailed for up to 40 years.
According to police documents, Bookey attacked her brother's girlfriend, in the girl's bedroom, by first trying to suffocate her. She is then alleged to have smashed two bowls on the victim's head, and finally cut her throat with a shard from one of the bowls.
After she slit her brother's girlfriend's throat, Bookey called the St Croix County Sheriff's Department on 27 July, claiming that two men in a green pickup truck attempted to kidnap her while she was out for a bike ride.

The Bayelsa Government on Sunday threatened to seal sites and premises of oil companies and oil servicing companies that default in their tax obligations to the state government.

Brazilians protest in Rio few days before 2016 Olympics
Protesters turned out Sunday for lightly attended demonstrations in Rio against embattled President Dilma Rousseff five days before the start of the 2016 Olympic Games.
About 4,000 protesters gathered on the beach at Copacabana in a festive atmosphere with sound trucks blasting out a mix of samba and the national anthem.
Marchers carried an enormous banner that read “Dilma out and prison for Lula,” a reference to former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was charged Friday with obstruction of justice in an ongoing corruption probe.
Dokpesi says Buhari still using strategy employed as military leader
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, at the weekend in Osogbo, contended that President Buhari is still using the same strategy he used in 1983 when he was Head of State.
Dokpesi, who was in Osun state to seek votes of delegates to the PDP National Convention holding in August while reacting to cases of money laundry against him, stressed that what Buhari did in 1983 shortly after taking over was to clampdown on political class.
