'Have a nice afterlife' - 14-year-old girl says after slitting her brother's girlfriend's throat


A 14-year-old teenager, Kali Jade Bookey from New Richmond, Wisconsin, was charged as an adult by police on 28 July with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and if convicted, she could be jailed for up to 40 years.

According to police documents, Bookey attacked her brother's girlfriend, in the girl's bedroom, by first trying to suffocate her. She is then alleged to have smashed two bowls on the victim's head, and finally cut her throat with a shard from one of the bowls.

After she slit her brother's girlfriend's throat, Bookey called the St Croix County Sheriff's Department on 27 July, claiming that two men in a green pickup truck attempted to kidnap her while she was out for a bike ride.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Russian intelligence services hacked into Democratic National Committee computers and she accused Republican contender Donald Trump of showing support for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We know that Russian intelligence services hacked into the DNC and we know that they arranged for a lot of those emails to be released and we know that Donald Trump has shown a very troubling willingness to back up Putin, to support Putin,” Clinton said in an interview with “Fox News Sunday.”

Ijaw indigenes fleeing after ROPC issued an ultimatum to vacate the land


Due to the alleged ultimatum issued by the Reformed Odua Peoples Congress, ROPC to Ijaw indigenes who live in Lagos and Ogun states to leave these states, a lot of Ijaws have started relocating to the South South for fear of being attacked. The price of tomato has crashed from N25,000 to N800 a basket. Few months ago, the price of the essential commodity skyrocketed following the spread of tuta absoluta also known as ‘tomato ebola’ in most of the states that plant and harvest Tomatoes in large quantities. As of this morning, a basket of Tomato in Kaduna sold for as low as N800.

Troops recover stash of arms and ammunition in Gamboru (PHOTOS)


Troops conducted raids at Gamboru town, Borno state early this morning following a tip off. The troops recovered 3 AK-56 rifles and 2 AK-L rifles with registration numbers; AK-L-AGB 1172, AK-L PU2879, AK-56-2556688, AK-56-22622832 and AK-56-22622315, respectively. They also recovered 235 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and 7 AK-56 rifle magazines.

Military explains Why they deployed Air Force to dislodge Arepo vandals


The military has defended its decision to dislodge vandals and militants operation at Arepo with air force strikes, saying it was due to the inaccessibility of the swampy hideouts of the criminals.

Bayelsa State | Government threatens to seal oil firms over alleged tax evasion


The Bayelsa Government on Sunday threatened to seal sites and premises of oil companies and oil servicing companies that default in their tax obligations to the state government.

Mr. Felix Bonny Ayah, Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa on Oil and Gas, who stated this said that the government had informed oil firms that non-compliance with tax obligation was no longer tolerable.

The state government had in May sealed a gas plant operated by Shell in Yenagoa over breach of development control levies.

Brazilians protest in Rio few days before 2016 Olympics


Protesters turned out Sunday for lightly attended demonstrations in Rio against embattled President Dilma Rousseff five days before the start of the 2016 Olympic Games.

About 4,000 protesters gathered on the beach at Copacabana in a festive atmosphere with sound trucks blasting out a mix of samba and the national anthem.

Marchers carried an enormous banner that read “Dilma out and prison for Lula,” a reference to former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was charged Friday with obstruction of justice in an ongoing corruption probe.

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, at the weekend in Osogbo, contended that President Buhari is still using the same strategy he used in 1983 when he was Head of State.

Suspected Militants blow up NPDC pipeline in Delta


Suspected militants on Saturday night blasted the 24-inch oil pipeline belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) in Odimodi community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC)’s 24-inch Brass Creek to Forcados Terminal Pipeline, popularly called the Trans Ramos trunk line, brings crude oil from oil well locations in Bayelsa State to the Forcados terminal.

Security sources said on Sunday that the incident occurred at 11 p.m. with a huge fire enveloping the site of the attack.

Nigeria Defence College has No place for FAT officers – Commandant


The Commandant, National Defence College (NDC), Samuel Alade, has said only officers with average body mass index shall continue make the admission list at the elite military training institution.

Mr Alade, a Rear Admiral, said officers who are obese would not be admitted into the NDC irrespective of their other qualifications, both academic and marksmanship.

Embarrassing! National Theatre in total darkness over N9m power debt


The Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EKEDC) on Sunday said electricity supply to the National Arts Theatre in Lagos was disconnected because its management failed to pay over N9 million debt.

Idemudia Godwin, General Manger, Media Communications of EKEDC, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the complex was disconnected after several appeals and demand notices went unheeded.

According to him, the debt is an accumulation of unpaid bills over time.
