Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven shared a new photo of the youngest child in their orphanage, who was delivered by a 13-year-old girl in Akwa Ibom. 

Loven and her husband, David rescued Ekemini and brought her to the orphanage where she gave birth to a baby boy through Caesarean operation on May 20. "Our youngest at the Childrens Home. Abasiofon, 2 months old in 4 days" she captioned the photo.

20-year-old Nigerian former rugby player who beat up and robbed a taxi driver to avoid paying a fare was on Monday July 11, sentenced to nine months in prison.

Sachi Buti, who was born in Nigeria but came to Ireland at the age of eight, pleaded guilty to the robbery of Joseph Saji at St Michael’s Estate, Inchicore on the night of August 23rd, 2014.
His mother, who supported her son in the Dublin Circuit Court said she was extremely shocked and appalled at his actions. Buti began his career with Leinster rugby at the age of 14 and played with the under-15 team. He went on to play for Blackrock, Liberty Saints and Guinness Rugby Club.

Garry is accused of following his young victim into an elevator building on Thursday July 14th and convinced the young girl to let him into her apartment.

The EFCC has reportedly seized properties worth N1.350billion belonging to Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose. The properties are said to be located in highbrow areas of Lagos and Abuja. Four in Lagos and two in Abuja.

The houses seized are located at: 44, Osun Crescent and 32, Yedseram Street in Maitama, Abuja; and houses 3, 4, 6, and 9 in Plot 100, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Twenty-six-year-old Joshua Long was charged on Thursday after admitting to stealing a human brain and soaking his weed with the formaldehyde to give it an extra high. Nice Terror Attack: Killer’s brother tells of pre-attack call while victims struggles for survival


The man, who mow through a crowd with a truck and killed 84 Bastille Day revellers in Nice on Thursday, had phoned home hours earlier and sent a ‘laughing’ picture from the French city, his brother told Reuters as 18 more victims fought for their lives.

During a visit to Nice on Sunday, French Health Minister Marisol Touraine said the 18, including one child, were in a critical condition, while about 85 people in total were still in the hospital.

The attack by delivery man Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel at peak holiday time on the Riviera plunged France into new grief and fear, just eight months after jihadist gunmen killed 130 people in Paris.
“That last day he said he was in Nice with his European friends to celebrate the national holiday,” Bouhlel’s brother Jabeur told Reuters in their native Tunisia.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have gone on the offensive with a Dubai-based company accused of being connected to the Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai’s alleged fraud.

The company, The First Group, have come out and responded to reports of their involvement in Buratai’s alleged shady dealings.

Their Abuja offices were sealed up by the EFCC on Wednesday over the alleged involvement with Buratai.

Lagos Government to upgrade 21 school libraries across 6 Educational Districts


The Lagos State Government on Sunday said it had concluded plans to upgrade 21 secondary school libraries across all the six educational districts in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Obafela Bank-Olemoh, said in a statement that the libraries would be upgraded by the end of 2016.

Bank-Olemoh also announced the commencement of the State Digital Library project.

According to him, the state government’s Private-Public-Partnership initiative tagged: Adopt-A-Library, was geared toward transforming the state public libraries into modern, ICT-enhanced knowledge centres.

Federal Road Safety Corps to crackdown on fake drivers’ licence syndicates


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said in Lagos on Sunday that it would continue to intensify efforts to clamp down on fake drivers’ licence syndicates in the country.

Mr Olatunji Oguntoye, the Surulere Unit Commander of the corps in Lagos gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said: “In this locality (Surulere), Lagos we are battling with the issue of fake drivers’ licences in some quarters and this is attributed to the activities of touts in our neighbourhoods.

The National Judicial Council of Nigeria (NJC) has dismissed Justice Mohammed Yunusa and two other judges for judicial malpractices.It was learnt that the NJC met on Thursday and Friday to consider several allegations of judicial misconduct by Justice Mohammed Yunusa of the Federal High Court, Justice Olamide Falahanmi Oloyede of the Osun High Court, and an unnamed judge from Benue State.

At the end of its deliberations, the NJC decided that the three judges deserved to be dismissed for acts of gross misconduct.

An NJC source told SaharaReporters that Justice Yunusa had the worst case, with numerous petitions accusing him of receiving kickbacks and bribes. He was also accused of writing and delivering two different judgments in one case.

Buhari rescued Borno from being a Boko Haram State - Shehu of Borno

‎SERAP sues FG over failure to name suspected looters


Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sued the Federal Government over “failure to release the names of suspected looters and the circumstances under which recovered stolen public funds were recovered.”

The suit filed last Friday at the Federal High Court Ikoyi followed a Freedom of Information request to the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed asking him to use his good offices to “provide information about the names of high ranking public officials from whom public funds were recovered and the circumstances under which funds were recovered, as well as the exact amount of funds recovered from each public official.”

The originating summons with suit number FHC/CS/964/2016 was brought pursuant to section 4(a) of the Freedom of Information Act, and signed by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni.

Comptroller of Prisons under fire over brutality of Ekiti OPC chief


The immediate past Comptroller of Prisons in Ekiti State, Attahiru Mustapha is under fire over alleged brutality meted out on the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) leader Adeniyi Adedipe in custody.

Adedipe’s lawyer, Jamiu Tijani, disclosed on Sunday that his client was beaten, dehumanized, stripped naked and beaten by armed prison guards under alleged supervision of Mustapha at about 10.00 am last Wednesday, July 13.

Sources at the Ekiti State Command of the Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) revealed that Mustapha has been transferred to Taraba State where he will resume office tomorrow (Monday).

Federal Government slam with N15bn lawsuit by Dasuki, demands release, public apology


Detained former National Security Adviser (NSA) Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (rtd) has dragged the federal government before an Abuja High Court, challenging his incarceration in the custody of the Department of the State Service (DSS) since December last year without trial.

Dasuki in the fresh legal action is praying the court to order his immediate release from the claws of the federal government security agents either conditionally or unconditionally.

The suit marked FCT/HC/ABJ/CV/2005/2016 instituted on his behalf by his two lead counsels Messrs Joseph Daudu SAN and Ahmed Raji SAN was brought pursuant to Order 11, Rule 1, 2 and 3 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rule 2009.

Any impeachment attempt on Buhari will be resisted like Turkey - APC governors


The All Progressives Congress, APC, governors, under the umbrella of Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, yesterday warned that Nigerians will resist any attempt to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

Late last week, there were reports of threat by the Senate to impeach Buhari amid the face-off between the Presidency and the Senate, which was deepened by charges instituted by the federal government over alleged forgery of Senate Orders. However, the Senate has come out to deny plotting to impeach the President.
