The Senate yesterday passed a bill which prohibits any form of discrimination against persons with disabilities. Although the bill was passed in the 6th and 7th Assembly, it was not signed into law for one reason or the other, and the Senate however hopes there will be a change in status quo this time.
According to Senate President Bukola Saraki, the "Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Bill (2016) (SB 22)" is a highly significant bill that seeks to curb the abuse in all forms of Nigerians with disabilities. Most importantly, it seeks to promote the respect of the rights of all Nigerians with disabilities.
