APGA, Alex Otti should be declared Abia Governor, not Ogah - State Chairman


The Abia State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has expressed displeasure over the court ruling that declared the first runner-up in the 2014 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries in the state, Dr Uche Ogah as a replacement for the embattled State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

APGA called for the declaration of its candidate in the election, Dr Alex Otti, as the duly elected governor of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s, state Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere.

Amber Rose was called out by the site fameolouscent for refusing to speak on the killings of black men by white cops, saying she has been mute because she didn't want to lose ratings on her TV show and also called her a fake activist but Amber fired back saying that she had been busy and hadn't seen news about the recent killing until it was brought to her notice.

Oyo State Governor to reward anyone with useful info on the murder of Oyo state lawmaker with N5m


The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has announced a N5 million reward for any information that will lead to arrest of three gunmen responsible for the gruesome murder of a member of the State House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu, which took place at his residence at Alakia in Egbeda local government area of the state last Saturday July 1st.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Yomi Layinka, today July 7th, announced the reward for any member of the public with credible information that might lead to the arrest of the criminals.

A fire occurred overnight at the home of Moses Ali and his wife Zainab Ali, killing them and burning down the house, in the town of Kontagora, Niger State. The fire reportedly occurred at about one o'clock at night and the cause hasn't been determined yet.

Militants vow to attack Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, over unpaid salaries


A consolidated group of militants known as the Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC), have threatened to attack the Bayelsa State Government House if the state governor, Seriake Dickson, continued to owe members of the state civil service their salaries.

The group in a statement released yesterday July 6th, said it was unacceptable for governor Dickson to be owing civil servants about seven months, local government workers for over 13 months, pensioners for about nine months and workers in the only state university, Niger Delta University (NDU) for about seven months.

Multi-Award Singer Adele has revealed that she is waiting for her baby daddy, CEO of a Charity organization, Simon Konecki who she's been dating for four years, to pop the question.

A woman identified only as Gloria has blinded one of the eyes of her 12-year-old houseboy identified as Peter in following brutal and frequent torture.

Gloria had employed Peter who is from Togo to work as her housemaid at 14b, Olu Akerele Street, Balogun Bus Stop off Awolowo Way, Ikeja area of Lagos State but the minor had been suffering a severe beating in the hands of the woman.

In one of such cruel beatings, Peter lost an eye, New Telegraph is reporting.

Reports say the last straw which broke the camel’s back was when Gloria returned from an outing and realised Peter did not wash a kettle properly.

Ghana President blames Nigeria for Ghana’s current electricity outage


The president of Ghana, John Mahama yesterday explained that the intermittent power outage experienced in his country was as a result of the delays in taking delivery of crude oil from Nigeria to power Ghana’s thermal plant.

Mahama, who spoke while delivering the Eid-el-Fitr speech at a ceremony, observed that Ghana has recently been experiencing a massive drop in electricity generation which has caused individuals and companies to complain.

The National President of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Engr. Daniel Kadzai, yesterday said Christian youths in the country are unsure of the Federal Government’s sincerity on the implementation of the grazing policy being propagated.

Kadzai disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

According to him, the federal government has not addressed the recent killings by herdsmen across the country only to come out with a policy that will hitherto favour the herdsmen.

Say What! Student stabs landlord to death for interrupting him while having sex


A student of the Abia State Polytechnic, simply identified as Abel, has killed his landlord in the Immaculate area of Aba, Abia State for interrupting him during love-making.

It was gathered that Abel, a final year student of the Department of Architecture, allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach during a heated argument at the lodge.

The Punch reports that the victim had ordered that no female visitor was allowed to spend the night in the lodge.

The suspect was alleged to have breached the rule and was challenged by the landlord, which led to a physical combat between them.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing says Energy Mix Document will reduce electricity tariffs, provide options for Nigerians


The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed that an Energy Mix document the government is about to introduce will reduce electricity tariff.

He stated this at a public forum in Abuja, adding that the Federal Government was working hard to ensure the major source of power, gas, was diversified and other sources of generation and supply come on stream.

The Minister said the Energy Mix Document will soon be launched and thoroughly implemented to give Nigerians options to access different sources of power at a lower cost which will enhance rapid economic growth and development.

Family narrowly survives landlord’s Okada explosion in Lagos


The tragedy was averted on Wednesday as a family of six, including a one-week-old baby, escaped death after their building in Okokomaiko area of Lagos went up in flames.

The inferno was said to have been caused by an explosion from a motorbike belonging to the landlord, one Mr Ishola Lukman, that was parked inside the building.

According to Vanguard, a woman, simply identified as Mrs Oyinkansola, was preparing a meal and had positioned her cooking stove and a kerosene lantern close to the motorcycle which allegedly led to the explosion.

The landlord of the building blamed Oyinkansola for the fire incident.

Communal clash claims several lives in Okpoga, Benue State


Several persons are feared to have been killed in Okpudu-Okpoga last night by attackers suspected to have come from Oloh community in Edumoga district of Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

A commercial driver, Mr. Sylvester John and Mr. Onoja Agbo of Benue Links Okpoga and several others were affected in the renewed attack while over ten other persons were injured.

Afenifere insists Nigeria’s unity is negotiable


Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere has frowned at the stance of President Muhammadu Buhari that the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable.

Buhari had on Wednesday warned Niger Delta militants calling for the emancipation of the region over their perceived marginalisation to lay down their arms, stressing that the country must remain united at all cost.

Responding to the President’s comment, National Publicity Secretary of the body, Yinka Odumakin claimed that Nigeria has already been divided under the very watch of the President.

He stressed that the President might not be reading the mood of the nation correctly, the Punch reports.

Ohaneze Youth Council says Buhari Leadership only favouring his people


The President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro has affirmed that unity of Nigeria is negotiable.

Man narrates How Boko Haram burnt his father, sister alive in church in Kano


One John Mbah, a victim of Boko Haram attack, has demanded justice from the Federal Government following his brutal ordeal with the insurgents.
Mbah, who now resides in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, said he was living in Dadawa, an outskirt of Sabongari, Kano State when the incident occurred on April 30.

The victim lamented how his entire family was burnt to death in his church – Discipleship Ministries in the area by the dreaded Islamic religious sect.

Speaking on NTA on Wednesday, Mbah said his father, Pastor Kenneth Mbah and sister, Adaugo Mbah was burnt alive.

Former AC Milan manager, Clarence Seedorf has been named head coach of Chinese League one side, Shenzhen.

Seedorf was sacked as manager of AC Milan in June 2014, less than 5 months in charge of the club and has since been out of job. The deal is reported to be on a one-year contract and will see the Dutchman take over from Tang Yaodong.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed pays tribute to Bukky Ajayi


The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has described Bukola Ajayi who died on Wednesday as an “iconic thespian”.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Minister said Ajayi was a “colossus of her time who has left an indelible footprint in the country’s creative landscape”.

The statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Minister, Mr Segun Adeyemi, was made available to newsmen in Abuja

In the statement, the minister said that in spite of Ajayi’s old age, he still received the news of the death of the veteran actress and broadcaster with shock, sense of sadness and great loss.
