New Militant Group vows to attack Imo state govt, oil companies


A new militant group, the Niger Delta Red Squad (NDRS), which has carried out attacks on oil facilities in Imo state, has threatened to unleash more attacks in the future. 

In the current threat by the group, signed by one General Don Wannie, the militants threatened to attack some government and oil facilities in Imo state. 

According to Vanguard, the group fumed that oil producing communities have nothing to show for the many years of oil exploration and exploitation. 

United Nations grant N3.7bn to IDPs in North-East


About 250,000 Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East of Nigeria have received about N3.7bn ($13m) as life-saving support from the United Nations Humanitarian Chief, Mr. Stephen O’Brien. 

According to News Agency of Nigeria the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, who announced this in a statement, said that the money was released the by the Central Emergency Response Fund. 
“The United Nations humanitarian chief, Stephen O’Brien, has released $13m from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), to provide life-saving assistance to 250,000 people in parts of theNorth-East of Nigeria. 
“The destruction of crops and looting of livestock have left many people unable to support their families.

Lagos to hold Farewell Testimonial Match for Late Amodu & Keshi July 23


The Lagos State Government in conjunction with the Sports Writer’s Association of Nigeria and the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, have set up a committee that will help plan the Lagos Farewell Testimonial Match in honour of former Super Eagles coaches, Amodu Shaibu and Stephen Keshi.

The game is scheduled for the Teslim Balogun Stadium on July 23, 2016.

Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, the chairman of the committee, explained that the event was meant to raise money for the families of the late coaches.

Gonzalo Higuain’s agent has insisted that he will not accept a new deal at Napoli. The Argentina striker has two years left on his current contract, which has a €94million release clause.

Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has appointed the immediate past vice chairman (South-South) of the party, Dr Cairo Ojougboh as the faction’s Deputy National Chairman.

Ojougboh was one of the party’s mainstream national officials that were sacked during the May 21 national convention of the party in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Ojougboh’s letter of appointment was jointly signed by Sheriff and the faction’s National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo.

Vincenzo Montella replaces Cristian Brocchi as AC Milan new coach


AC Milan has named former Sampdoria boss Vincenzo Montella as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The 42-year-old will take over from Cristian Brocchi, who was acting as caretaker boss following Sinisa Mihajlovic’s sacking in April.

Milan finished seventh in Serie A last season and lost to Juventus in the Italian Cup final.

Suicide Attack at Istanbul Airport Leaves 10 persons dead


At least 10 people were killed Tuesday evening in a suicide attack at the international terminal of Istanbul’s Ataturk airport, Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said.

Two explosions hit the airport — Turkey’s biggest — followed by gunfire, local television channels reported. “Unfortunately 10 people have been killed according to a preliminary toll,” Bozdag told parliament in Ankara.

Red Cross apologize over 'Racist' swimming pool poster that sparks Twitter outrage


The American Red Cross has apologized after a poster depicting pool safety rules was circulated on Twitter and slammed by users for being "super racist." 

The poster, which shows a crowd of cartoon children committing an array of poolside do's and dont's, was spotted at the Salida Pool and Recreation Department in Salida, Colorado by a twitter user who uploaded the picture causing a lot of backlashes. As you can see, it's only the black kids that are doing things that aren't cool in the pool ...

Two suspected cable thieves caught, beating and tied to a transformer fence in Abuja


Angry mob last Wednesday nabbed two suspected cable thieves and tied them to a transformer fence at Anagada village, Gwagwalada Area Council.

According to Daily Trust, a resident of the community identified as LLiyasu said the two suspects allegedly went to vandalize a newly installed transformer at the outskirts of the community but a security guard at the village primary school heard strange sounds from the direction of the transformer and raised an alarm.

Nigerian doctors allegedly removed giant fibroid weighing 26kg from a woman


So there was a Facebook by Abraham OC Ogolo, who says some doctors at a Nigerian hospital removed a giant fibroid weighing 26kg from a woman's stomach. Further research says the surgery took place in 2014 in Nigeria.

According to the hospitals social media report, confirmatory results shows that the mass weighed 26kg in Histopathology lab and was a 32cm degenerating fibroid. This makes it the Largest ever mass to be removed from an individual in any part of the world.

Nigerian singer MC Galaxy who launched his record label MCG Empire in 2015 has signed a recording deal with fast rising Rwandan singer Patricia Neza Masozera, otherwise known as ‘Neza‘.

Neza who won the African Entertainment Award in 2012 as the Best Female act is a Rwandan singer based in Canada.

Since signing with MCG Empire, Neza has released her first song ‘My Baby’ produced by Wole Ogundare and featuring MC Galaxy.
