"You Can’t Dictate To Buhari On How To Fight Corruption" – Apc To Pdp Senators


The APC has asked senators of the opposition PDP to face their legislative business and come to terms with the reality that they cannot determine how the Buhari administration fights corruption, this statement was made hours after PDP Senators declared they would no longer support President Muhammadu Buhari because the federal government was trying Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu for forgery.

The APC, via a statement signed by its National Secretary, Mala Buni on Wednesday, said this in response to the PDP Senators’ declaration of suspension of support for the Buhari-led government.
“The attention of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a statement credited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senate Caucus stating that the Caucus has withdrawn its support for the government of President Muhammadu Buhari over the administration’s hugely successful war against corruption,” the statement said.

AMCON to take over Ben Murray-Bruce’s companies, assets (SEE REASONS)


The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) will on Thursday morning take over the assets of three companies belonging to politician Ben Murray-Bruce and his brothers.

According to reports, the assets are being seized following the failure of Senator Murray-Bruce and his brothers to settle an N11 billion loan owed Union Bank and acquired by AMCON.
AMCON was established on July 9, 2010, as a key stabilizing and revitalizing tool for stabilising the nation’s financial system.

Its enabling law empowers it to acquire non-performing loan assets of Nigerian banks at fair values and then put them to economic use in a profitable manner.

"Warning Strike by Health Workers’ is Illegal" - Minister


The warning strike called by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) yesterday has been described as illegal by the Federal Government.

The health workers commenced a seven-day warning strike at the expiration of the 14 days ultimatum given to the Federal Government to meet its demands, which issuance of the implementation of circular on salary adjustment done for the medical doctors and implementation of all agreements of May 10, 2012, by past administration and issuance of circular for the implementation of specialist allowance for members in line with the 2009 agreement.

The communique announcing the warning strike was issued after JOHESU’s meeting with the Federal Government.

EFCC to begin investigation on Fayose's wife over arms fund


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to invite Feyisetan Fayose, the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, for allegedly receiving N100m through an account operated by her and her husband.

Abiodun Agbele, an associate of the governor paid the money paid into the account of Spotless Investment Limited on June 17, 2014 with bank teller number 0540997.

Federal Accounts Allocation Committee distributes N305.1bn to FG, States, LGs


The Federal Accounts Allocation Committee on Wednesday night distributed a total sum of N305.12bn to the three tiers of government as statutory allocation for the month of May.

The FAAC meeting, which was earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, could not be convened because of the protest by workers of the Ministry of Finance, which was suspended on Wednesday.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting, which was read by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, stated that the amount allocated in May was higher than the N281.5bn shared in April.

Eagles will no longer receive bonus in dollars for any home games


Nigeria Football Federation is now working on paying Football players in the Nigerian currency when matches are played in Nigeria as opposed to the payment of dollars for match bonuses whether they play in Nigeria or abroad.

An Africanfootball.com report stated that it was part of the decisions taken by the NFF technical committee at their meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. The committee is also putting forward several far-reaching recommendations including the scrapping of dollar payment to the various national teams and match-by-match bonuses as well as placing assistant coaches on a part-time basis.

On Wednesday, Caitlyn Jenner took to Instagram, sharing a brief eulogy to Charles T. Aaron, who died recently in a motorcycle accident. 
"Sad day yesterday. My good friend Charles lost his life on Sunday," Jenner captioned the picture collage. "My prayers go out to his father @chuckpaaron who lost his best friend."

All group games at the 2016 European Championship were concluded on Wednesday night. Hosts France finished top of Group A and will face Ireland, who finished third in Group E, after a 1-0 win over Italy.

The winner of that Round of 16 game, will take on England or Iceland who play each other on Monday.

Switzerland finished second in Group A and will battle Poland in Saint-Etienne, while Croatia and Portugal will square up against each other on Saturday. The winners of these ties will face each other.

FBI release full transcript of Orlando gay club terrorist 911 call


FBI has released the full, unedited transcript of the 911 call to police made by Omar Mateen, the shooter in the Orlando terrorist attack after previously omitting the previous version of the transcript where Marteen professed allegiance to terrorist organizations.

According to the White House, the omission was a Justice Department decision. According to the new transcript, Marteen was committed to ISIS, which he referred to as the “Islamic State.”

DHQ scraps Operation Pulo Shield replace it with Operation Delta Safe


The Defence Headquarters has scrapped the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield, as part of the efforts to ensure better protection of oil pipelines and curtail insecurity in the Niger Delta.

The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen.Rabe Abubakar, said in a statement on Wednesday that Operation Pulo Shield was replaced with Operation Delta Safe.

Abubakar said that the decision was taken in line with the directive of the Defence Headquarters for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness against insecurity and the protection of the nation’s pipelines in the Niger Delta.

House of Reps probe MTN, NBC others over sale of bandwidth


The House of Representatives said it would investigate the process of Digital Broadcast switchover in the country, particularly the sale of bandwidth to MTN.

The House is also to investigate the concession of the Graphic User Interface (GUI) value added services to InViewTech Ltd. of United Kingdom.

The resolution was sequel to a motion by Rep. Chris Azubogu (PDP-Anambra). The house also resolved to ascertain whether the aggregation of the equipment which cost billions of naira to procure over 20 million “Set-up Boxes’’ were capable of meeting the digitisation deadline.

Moving the motion, Azubogu said that for the second time, Nigeria failed to meet the deadline for Digital Switch-Over (DSO) from analogue transmission to digital terrestrial transmission.

Nigeria Navy intercepts pipeline vandals, recovers stolen petrol


The Nigerian Navy on Wednesday said it had impounded a wooden boat laden with 90 jerry cans of stolen petrol from suspected pipeline vandals at the Pashe creek in Badagry area of Lagos State.

The Commander, Forward Operating Base of the Navy in Badagry, Capt. Simon Dogo, told journalists in Lagos that the seizure was made after the vandals abandoned the boat on sighting a naval team and fled.
“My patrol teams went on patrol at Pashe creek when they saw perpetrators trying to load the petroleum products in a boat for transfer to the Benin Republic.

In Kano: Man Sentenced To Die By Hanging (SEE CRIMES)


Abubakar Abdulrahaman, the killer of Ganiyu Akanbi Bello, a Kano business tycoon, philanthropist, and Yoruba leader, has been sentenced to death by hanging on Wednesday, by Justice Kabiru Auta of a Kano High Court.

According to Sahara Reporters, the accused, Abubakar Abdulrahaman, 28, was found guilty of culpable homicide punishable with death.

He was discharged and acquitted of another charge of armed robbery.

Mr. Abdulrahaman was accused of murdering Mr. Bello on the night of June 5, 2014, in his residence at the Nassarawa Government Reserved Area (GRA) opposite Kano Race Course when he stabbed the victim in the heart with a kitchen knife.

United State Government Deport 41 Nigerians


At least 41 Nigerians were on Wednesday deported from the United States for drugs and immigration-related offences.

The deportees, all males according to Immigration sources were flown in aboard a chartered aircraft operated by Miami Air International marked with registration number N733MA, which arrived the Lagos international airport at 12.20pm.
