According to Sahara, The Federal High Court, Lagos Division has frozen all the assets of businessman Jimoh Ibrahim, as well as his NICON Investment Limited and Global Fleet Oil and Gas Limited. Justice Saliu Saidu issued the interim injunction in response to an application by Mr. Yusuf Ali, counsel to the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on June 14th, and it will stay in place until all the issues concerning their indebtedness to AMCON are determined.

Emmanuel Imole 33, has been arrested for bathing a police corporal, Kayode Akingbade, with a hot pot of soup.

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court on Monday remanded Emmanuel in prison custody on charges of assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace.

According to reports, some policemen, on June 13 at about 5:30pm, were on their usual patrol around the Baptist College, Ilawe Road, when one of them asked Emmanuel to vacate the area in order for them to carry out their operation.

Details on how Seven federal health workers diverted $4m HIV fund


Seven officials of the Federal Ministry of Health have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly diverting over $4 million intended for the fight against AIDS.

The stolen money was donated to Nigeria by an international financing organization, Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

Global Fund had in May sent a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, accusing health officials of stealing the funds they provided.


The Fund pointed out several irregularities including $20 million payment to suppliers before delivery was confirmed and $3.7 million which cannot be accounted for but was allegedly spent on anti-retroviral drugs.

BREAKING: Iheanacho might miss Olympic Games in Brazil


Kelechi Iheanacho’s participation at the forthcoming Olympic Games looks doubtful after it emerged that he has resumed pre-season sessions with Manchester City rather than join the Nigeria Olympic team.

Iheanacho, 19, is in the Nigeria provisional squad for the Games, but his participation is now in doubt, as he will return to England to team up with City for pre-season.

Man tried to Kill Donald Trump with a Cop Gun during Las Vegas Rally - Feds


A man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas told authorities he tried to grab a police officer’s gun so he could kill him, according to the Secret Service.

According to AP, a complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Nevada charges Michael Steven Sandford with an act of violence on restricted grounds. He was expected to appear in court later in the day as the investigation continued.

Authorities said Sandford went to a Trump rally on Saturday at the Treasure Island Casino and approached a Las Vegas police officer to say he wanted an autograph from Trump. The report says Sandford was arrested after grabbing the handle of an officer’s gun in an attempt to remove it.

'We have the right to freeze Fayose's account' - EFCC replies Fayose's Comment


The spokesperson of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, says the agency has the right to freeze the accounts of Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, even though he enjoys immunity under the constitution.

Speaking with Vanguard, Uwujaren said the immunity being enjoyed by any governor doesn't prevent the commission from investigating suspicious movements of money into his accounts.

Mr. Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti State in southern Nigeria, announced on Monday, June 20, 2016 that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has frozen his personal bank account in Zenith Bank.

Fayose has been an outspoken critic of President Muhammadu Buhari and enjoys immunity from criminal prosecution as a governor.

Croatia have been fined €100,000 and told they will be banned from selling tickets to fans identified as hooligans if there is any further trouble during Euro 2016.

The country's match against Czech Republic in Saint-Etienne on Friday – which finished in a 2-2 draw – was marred by trouble involving a section of their support.

Croatia players had to call for calm when a volley of flares rained down on the pitch and halted play in the second half as part of a co-ordinated protest against the Croatian Football Federation (HNS).

Tite appointed new Brazil coach


Tite has been appointed as the new coach of Brazil, the Confederation of Brazilian Football (CBF) has announced.

Tite replaces Dunga at the Brazil helm after the former Internacional boss was dismissed for failing to guide the five-time World Cup winners into the quarter-finals of the Copa America Centenario in the United States.

The 55-year-old arrives following a third spell in charge of Corinthians, returning from a sabbatical to guide them to the Campeonato Brasileiro title in 2015.

NYSC DG urge Corp Members to Marry themselves


The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure has urged corps members from different tribes to inter-marry.

He said it was as an avenue of boosting national integration.

General Kazaure made this remark when he visited the 2016 Batch A (Stream II) corps members undergoing their orientation programme.

He noted that the essence of the scheme was to ensure national integration, which would bring the desired unity in the country.

A probe into the activities of the 38 soldiers, who were compulsorily retired by the Nigerian Army recently will soon be launched by the The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The anti-graft body gave this assurance, when a human rights group, Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Advocacy Centre protested to the commission, demanding the probe of the soldiers. 

It will be recalled that the soldiers were retired last week by the military authorities ‎following their alleged involvement in the arms deal fraud.

According to Vanguard, the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, told the protesters that his office will look into their demands.
