Chair-Lady of Calabar Sex Workers lands in trouble over workers recruitment


The ‘Chairlady’ of commercial s*x workers in Calabar, Abigail Nweke, has been charged to court for allegedly taking teenage girls from Benue State and turning them to prostitutes in Calabar.

According to Vanguard, Miss Nweke was charged to Magistrate’s Court 1, presided over by Magistrate Michael Edoki for unlawfully abducting six teenage girls from Vandeikiya and Ekun Local Government areas of Benue State and taking them to Vegas Flex, a brothel in Calabar, located at Bedwell Street.

According to the police prosecutor, Maxwell Bassey, Abigail deceitfully took the girls from their homes in Benue State without the consent of their parents and “forced them into prostitution, which is a criminal offence and punishable with five years imprisonment if found guilty.”

Nigerian troops deployed in Borno State has yet again score high after they killed some Boko Haram fighters during an encounter with the terrorists in a rural area yesterday. 

According to the source that shared the photos, the troops also captured one terrorist alive and also confiscated their weapons and equipment.

Dele Momodu Reacts To Davido Calling Him His “Boy” in Falz’ Bahd Baddo Baddest Music


Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu says it would be childish of him to respond to the swipes and jibes of singer, Davido.

The veteran journalist and the HKN singer clashed a few months ago over the custody of the latter’s baby, whom the former is an uncle to.

FG releases census on all livestock in Nigeria including goats, sheep, pigs ...


Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, yesterday June 2nd, released details of the 2011 National Agricultural Sample Survey, which shows an estimated number of livestock in the country.

At a news conference in Abuja yesterday June 2nd, Ogbeh said the 2011 census on Nigeria's livestock showed that the country had an estimated 7.1 million pigs, 41.3 million sheep, 19.5 million cattle, 28,000 camels, 974,499 donkeys, 11.6 million ducks, 145 million chickens, 1.2 million turkeys and 72.5 million goats.

PHOTOs: Woman who kidnapped little boy paraded by Lagos State Police


The Lagos state Command has arrested Zainab Salisu, 42-year-old woman who kidnapped baby Fehintola Lawal from her mother Damilola Lawal at Abule Egba area. She pretended to help the mother back her child while sleeping and disappeared with the baby for 2 weeks until the operatives of the Npf Lagos State Command arrested her on Wednesday June 1.

Fehintola has been handed over to the mother while the police is still tracing the parents of the other boy who was also rescued from the kidnapper.

She will soon be charged to court.

Angola: President Eduardo appoints daughter as Head of the Country's oil company


Angola's President Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who has ruled the country since 1979, has appointed his daughter, Isabel dos Santos (Africa's richest woman) as head of the state oil company, Sonangol. This is coming after he sacked the entire board back in April 2016, when the company started struggling after low crude prices affected its revenue.

Omisore denies collecting any money from Dasuki on a TV Interview


Former Osun state deputy Governor, Iyiola Omisore who was on May 24th declared wanted by the EFCC for allegedly receiving N700 million from embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki between June and November 2014, appeared on Channels TV yesterday night June 2nd, to deny ever receiving any money from the former NSA office.

According to Omisore, he and some representatives of the EFCC were in court in the morning of the day they declared him wanted. He says he will be suing the agency for Libel

(PHOTOs): Decomposed Bodies of 85 African migrants wash up in the coastal town of Zuwara, Libya


On Thursday afternoon, June 2, a Red Cross official said, 85 migrants bodies who drowned why trying to cross the Mediterranean were found washed up from the beaches of the coastal town of Zuwara.

According to report from Reuter, the bodies are believed to be those migrants who perished in a string of shipwrecks that took place inside Libyan waters late last week. Al-Khamis al-Bosaifi said most of the migrants appeared to be from sub-Saharan Africa, though their bodies were decomposed and it was not clear when they drowned. The bodies of two children were among those recovered.

2016 Olympics: Samson Siasia includes Victor Moses and Troost-Ekong to his Provisional squad


Coach of Nigeria’s U-23 team, Samson Siasia, has included Chelsea winger, Victor Moses and Norway-based defender, William Troost-Ekong, to his provisional list of players for the 2016 Olympics to take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

It was initially thought that Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi, Watford’s Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow were the three over aged players Siasia will pick for the tournament in Rio, but Siasia has broadened his selection with the invitation of Moses and Troost-Ekong.

Niger Delta Avengers refute claims of attacking any military houseboat


Niger Delta Avengers have released a statement on their website, refuting media claims that they were involved in an attack on a military houseboat located inside the creek around Omadino, an Itsekiri community in Warri, Delta state at about 8:00pm on Wednesday June 1st.

According to media report, two soldiers and 5 civilians were killed in the attack. The statement release by the militants insists their war is on oil installations and not on any human life which includes that of military officers.

They say they will bring to justice those who killed the soldiers and civilians during the attack. Read their statement which was shared on their website below:

One lady had just bought lunch and sat down by the seaside to enjoy it when she spotted a frisky couple who couldn't wait to get a room somewhere in Ireland. The lady named Veronica says she was so shocked she couldn't finish her lunch.

Newly appointed Manchester United Coach Jose Mourinho last night was present at Wembley Stadium to watch the England vs Portugal game alongside his daughter Matilde Faria Mourinho, her boyfriend Danny Graham and two other family friends. 

The match saw England took a narrow victory courtesy a lone goal from United Defender, Chris Smally after Portugal Bruno Alves saw red card midway through the first half.

A judge in Ohio had just told a serial sex offender and serial killer Michael Madison he was to receive a lethal injection for murdering a girl, the girl's father Van Terry who was present at the hearing couldn't take it anymore and took a stunt leap across a table to exact revenge.

The man's 18-year-old daughter Shirelda Terry, and two other women, Angela Deskins, 38, and Shetisha Sheele, 28, were all murdered by the killer in Ohio in a 9 months perios. Their bodies were found in July 2013 by police near East Cleveland apartment where Madison lived.

Lagos State: 6 people killed in Fatal accident at Fadeyi


6 persons has been confirm dead in a fatal accident involving a commercial bus and a trailer. The incident occurred at Fadeyi bus stop in Lagos this morning. 

According eyewitness, body parts of some of the victims was seen across the road. The picture was shared by Twitter user @Xantaplus

Oh Dear! Kids destroys Exhibition Statue worth $15,000 minutes before Exhibition


A four-year-old boy pushed over and destroyed a giant figure at the opening of LEGO Expo in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on Sunday. The statue was valued at $15,000.

The model was of Nick, a character from the movie Zootopia. The artist who made the statue spent three days constructing it brick by brick. He shared photos of the process on social media.

Ex Governor in EFCC Net Over N1.9billion Fraud



A former Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, was reportedly detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday in connection with the ongoing probe of a N1.9billion fraud.

A top source who spoke with The Nation, said the ex-governor who is being investigated for alleged abuse of office and corruption, was invited by the EFCC but it became necessary to detain him to enable investigators to grill him.

Oyo State House of Assembly Passes Bill Prohibiting Smoking in Public Places


Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a bill banning smoking in public places in the state. 

The “Bill to Regulate Smoking in Public Places and for Connected Purposes’’ also provides three to six months imprisonment or fine of between N15, 000 and N50, 000 for offenders. 

The bill was sponsored by Mr Segun Ajanaku and Mr Segun Olaleye, representing Ibadan South-West II and Ibadan North II constituencies, respectively. 

Supporting the passage of the bill, the Chairman of the assembly’s Committee on Health, Mr Silas Okunola, said that the bill was necessary for regulating smoking in designated places, include shopping centres, restaurants, public toilets and cinemas. 

Tafawa Balewa Square in the Lagos Island gutted by fire outbreak


Yesterday there was a fire outbreak at the Lagos National Assembly Annex located at Tafawa Balewa Square in the Lagos island area of the state popular called TBS.

It was gathered that firefighters came to the rescue and handled the blaze before it spread to other buildings. As at the time of this post, the cause of the fire has not yet be ascertain.
