Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service has announced it will donate $1.5 million to Black Lives Matter and social justice organizations aligned with the BLM message according to report from EW. The announcement comes on the day Trayvon Martin would have turned 21.
The money for the sizable donation was raised at Tidal’s sold-out charity concert in Brooklyn this October, which featured performances by many Tidal artists as well as owners Jay Z, Beyonce, and Nicki Minaj. At the concert, Usher and Nas performed “Chains,” which calls out police brutality against African Americans.
