Economic Crisis: Banks reject senators’ loan requests

Banks in Nigeria has started rejecting loan request by some senators’ of the Federal Republic due to the current cash crunch in the Economic. Some Senators was force to seek for loan due to the non payment of their salaries since their inauguration on June 9, all they have received is N6m housing loan, which many of them said was not enough to get decent accommodation in Abuja.

Some of the senators, who spoke with Punch said because of non-payment of their salaries, they were forced to apply for loans from banks but the banks refused to give them, citing economic difficulties the Nigerian government is facing.

According to an eyewitness report, dreaded Terrorist Group, Boko Haram on Sunday abducted six civilians and killed four others in at the outskirts of Nwajurko village in Damboa local government area of Borno State.

An eyewitness civilian-JTF who narrates the ordeal to Leadership said:

President Muhammadu Buhari has commence probing of former President Goodluck Jonathan administration as in orders the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission to collate and locate funds embezzled under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The President’s directive was reportedly given shortly before his trip to the United States on July 20, 2015.

Punch Newspapers reports that the directive was given in order to ascertain the exact figure stolen under the former administration, before they can be traced to foreign countries, where they are stashed.

The University of Lagos part time lecturer who allegedly rape an 18 years admission seeker was on Sunday disowned by the Authorities of the school.

On July 23, 2015 Dr. Akin Baruwa, reportedly raped an 18-year-old admission seeker in his office and was subsequently arrested and place under detention at the Kirikiri Prison.

However, in their usual fashion, the school without hesitation, feigned ignorance and complete cluelessness when asked about the staff of the school.

6 dead as Deadly Typhoon Soudelor strikes Taiwan

A powerful Typhoon soudelor pounded Taiwan with fierce winds and torrential rain on Saturday, killing at least six people .

Typhoon soudelor, which slammed into the country with winds of more than 230 km/per hour, made landfall on the eastern coast on Saturday and is now moving across the island.

It ripped off trees and tore down billboards. It also triggered a landslide in at least one village.

As a result, about two million households had been left without electricity. Rail services and flights had also been cancelled and all schools and offices closed.

Popular blogger Niloy Chakrabarti, who used the pen-name Niloy Neel, 40, was killed yesterday Friday August 7th after a gang armed with machetes broke into his home in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was well known for his atheist views and anti-Islamic writings.

"They entered his room in the fifth floor and shoved his friend aside and then hacked him to death. He was a listed target of the Islamist militants," Imran H. Sarker, head of Bangladesh Blogger and Activist Network told AFP
