Mallam Nuhu Ribadu concede defeat in Adamawa Governorship Polls

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has followed the precedent of President Goodluck Jonathan by conceding defeat in the April 11 governorship poll.

Ribadu lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate,Jibrilla Bindow, who by virtue of the outcome of the poll is now the Governor-elect of Adamawa state.

Gen Buhari : Those cross carpeting to APC should not expect automatic appointment in my government

Speaking with newsmen shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Daura Katsina State yesterday April 11th, President-elect Gen Buhari is quoted as saying by Tribune that PDP defectors should not expect automatic appointment as ministers in his government.

"I have no fears of PDP defectors. The people who are defecting will only have influence in their constituencies. Since their constituencies are now controlled by the APC, their influence is, therefore, limited. I hope the people that are defecting will accept the fact that they are joining the people who succeeded. So, I don’t think they will just come and say they want to be ministers next month, simply because they were ministers before.” he said

Governorship elections were held in 29 States of the Federation, while State Assembly elections were held in 36 states. No election took place in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). A general assessment shows that the elections went very well across the country.

According to a report from gawker, on Saturday, an American citizen, Mohamed Soltan, was sentenced to life imprisonment in Egypt for his support of an Islamist protest in the summer of 2013, the New York Times reports. Rapper Nelly in Police custody for drug charges

"Ride wit me" hitmaker Nelly whose real name is Cornell Haynes was on Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 arrested by Tennessee State trooper for drug charges after marijuana and meth were found on his tour bus.

According to reports, the troopers noticed the smell of marijuana when they stopped the bus and then proceeded to search it. The search uncovered marijuana, meth, as well as multiple handguns. Nelly and one of the other five people in the bus were immediately arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail.

In an official statement released by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Securities, Nelly was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, Trooper Michael Loftis stopped a Prevost motor coach bus on Interstate 40 near the 275 mile marker for failure to display a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Fuel Tax Association (IFTA) sticker on the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed approximately 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics and numerous handguns, including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson.

The bus was occupied by six subjects, one of whom was identified as Nelly, 40, Brian Jones, 44, of St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Jones, a convicted felon, was also in possession of a handgun and was charged accordingly.

PDP chairman, youth shot dead in Ebonyi

The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State Mr. Emeka Nworie shot dead.

Vanguard report that the late PDP chairman was attacked in his house in Ezzagu in Ishielu LGA and shot several times by his assailants.

Confirming the incident, the state Police spokesman, ASP Chris Anyanwu stated the assailants before killing the PDP stalwart asked for money which was generously given to them but still went ahead to kill their victim.

31 Moroccan Young Athletes killed as tour bus burst into flames following collision

A bus carrying Young Moroccan Athletes between the age of 14 - 15 years who where returning from a sports competition has been gutted by fire after their bus had a head collision with a petrol tanker which left about 31 of the children dead and about 9 others seriously injured

The tour bus, carrying the young athletes and their coaches, crashed into the truck, which may have been carrying petrol, early this morning near the southern Moroccan city of Tan-Tan.

Most victims were killed by a fire that broke out on the bus straight after the crash.
