The United Nations Security Council on Tuesday condemned the escalation of attacks by the Boko Haram sect, especially the February 1 attack on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The UN urged the regions to enhance regional military operations and coordination to effectively and immediately combat Boko Haram.
In a statement by the National Information Officer, United Nations Information Centre, Oluseyi Soremekun, the council said the increasing attacks in the Lake Chad Basin region, including the one against the Chadian Army contingent deployed to fight Boko Haram in Cameroon called for serious attention.
