Nigerian church vows to excommunicate corrupt members


The Enugu Diocese of the Methodist Church will henceforth excommunicate its members, who are prosecuted for corrupt practices, the archbishop of the diocese, Christopher Edeh, has said.

Mr. Edeh, who gave this caution in Enugu in his state of the nation address to the congregation at the end of the 42nd Annual Synod of the church on Sunday, said that such people were a disgrace to the body of Christ.

On Sunday 7th May 2017, Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua predicted victory in the French election for Emmanuel Macron merely hours before results were officially announced declaring him the winner.

The cleric also demanded to see, among other things, “the explosive incontrovertible evidence” she had boasted about; the travel documents “she promised to reveal and the nude pictures she claimed to have in her possession.”

Customs Officer commits suicide in Abuja


A 44-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Customs simply identified as Christian, allegedly committed suicide in Lungu Village, Gwarinpa, Abuja. According to reports, Christian was found dead dangling from a rope in his one room apartment. He reportedly locked himself in the home and killed himself. His reason for committing suicide is yet unknown.

Yemi Osinbajo, Bukola Saraki, others bid Buhari farewell

 

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Senate President Bukola Saraki on Sunday night paid a farewell visit to President Muhammadu Buhari who departed Abuja to London for medical check-up.

The President, who confirmed this development on his twitter handle on Sunday in Abuja, said he also received the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, in the Presidential Villa on similar mission.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has sued the police over an alleged move to search his house in Abuja for huge cash sums believed to be proceeds of crime.

Also joined as defendants in the suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja are the Inspector-General of Police, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Services.

Catholic nun arrested for helping priests sexually abuse dozens of deaf children


A Roman Catholic nun from Japan, Kosaka Kumiko, 42, has been arrested and charged on suspicion of helping priests sexually abuse children at a school for youths with hearing disabilities in Argentina. Kumiko reportedly helped the priests with anal and vaginal rapes, fondling and oral sex, allegedly committed in bathrooms, dormitories, garden and a basement at the school in Lujan de Cuyo.

The children said the two Roman Catholic priests continuously raped them beside the image of the Virgin Mary.

Nigeria’s D’Tigers were in Guangzhou, China, on Sunday drawn in Group B  of the FIBA 2019 World Cup qualifiers alongside Mali, Uganda and Rwanda.

Police Commissioner hospitalize after receiving elbows from Colonel in Borno


Damian Chukwu, Borno State Commissioner of Police, has been hospitalized as a result of an eye injury he suffered when an Army Colonel attempted to salute Governor Kashim Shettima.

The incident took place at the Borno Government House. Chukwu sustained serious eye injuries as a result of the impact of the Colonel’s elbow.

Lagos may charge pupils of Falomo school with attempted rape


Arrested final year secondary school pupils of Ireti Grammar School, Falomo, Lagos State, may face charges bordering on physical assault and attempted rape after police investigations. It was gathered that the pupils, if found guilty, might be sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment as some of the pupils were over 18 years.

It was also learnt that more arrests would be made in the coming days as regards the incident, adding that the four arrested pupils were still under investigations.

Gabriel Suswam regains freedom after 70 days in DSS Custody


Former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has been released by the Department of State Service (DSS). Suswam was reportedly released Sunday evening, after the security agency detained him for over 70 days, citing that he would be of a security threat to Benue State Government if he was freed.

The DSS arrested Suswam on Sunday, February 25th, 2017, on the allegations that car keys, certificate of occupancy of landed properties, among others were found in his residence.

Nollywood actor narrates how he escaped from kidnappers’ den naked

Nollywood actor, Mcdonald Oti, has explained how he escaped naked from a gang that kidnapped him about two weeks ago in Ebonyi State. Oti is also the Special Assistant to the Chairman of Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board, ESUBEB.


The actor was kidnapped from his home in Abakaliki, the state capital on April 22, 2017 about 8.30 pm and driven away in his Toyota Highlander SUV, to Ohatekwe forest in Ezza North Local Government Area of the state. According to him, his abductors took everything he had on him and then stripped him naked.

113 Chibok girls remain in captivity – BBOG reminds FG


The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari on the release of 82 of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls from captivity.

According to reports by Daily Post, 82 of the abducted girls were on Saturday released to international negotiators who had been working in collaboration with the federal government.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Aisha Yesufu and Oby Ezekwesili, conveners of BBOG, while describing the release of the girls as a “heartwarming development”, reminded the federal government on the need to double up efforts to secure the release of the remaining 113 in the Boko Haram den.

The Arewa Northern Youth Leaders’ Forum have slammed the 19 northern governors for not doing enough to protect President Muhammadu Buhari in his moment of trial. The group, in a statement by their national president Alhaji Adamu Mahmuda on Sunday, said they observed that Buhari had been left on his own since the controversy on the issues surrounding his health and well being began.
