Even if President Buhari runs in 2019, I will support Atiku - Buhari's Minister says


The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, has restated her position that she will support a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, for the 2019 presidential election.

Mrs. Alhassan, in an interview with BBC Hausa, added that even if President Muhammadu Buhari decides to contest in 2019, she would still support Mr. Abubakar.

A talented young Nigerian footballer has been confirmed dead following a mystery bug bite. The bite had first made his ears ache and caused him hallucinations and seizures before he finally gave up the ghost.

The family of the young Josh Ayuba, 18, have paid tribute to “an amazing son” who was “intelligent” and “always smiling”.

South Africa Out of Economic Recession


Just like Nigeria, South Africa's local economy has swiftly recovered from economic recession after a negative growth her its GDP earlier this year.

Statistics from Statistics South Africa released today showed that the country moved out of recession in the second quarter of the year after the economy expanded an annualized 2.5% in second quarter of this year. 

Buhari, economists, others caution against celebrating Nigeria’s exit from recession


The news that the nation exited its worst recession in 25 years was received with cautious optimism by a cross section of Nigerians on Tuesday, with many economists and analysts saying the 0.55 per cent growth in the Gross Domestic Product in the second quarter was slower than expected.

They also warned that the growth, which was large as a result of rising oil price and improved production in the period, was fragile and that the nation could slip back into recession if the price of crude suffered a dramatic decline.

Anambra State: Police arrest two siblings, others for cultism


The Special Anti-Cultism Squad of the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two siblings and six others for alleged cult activities.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

The siblings – Njideka Onyebukpo, female; and Chiemeka Onyebukpo, male – who allegedly confessed to be members of the Vipers and Junior Vikings confraternities, said they were influenced by their friends.
