Nigeria Customs hands over 661 pump action rifles, suspects to DSS (Photos)


The Nigeria Customs Service has handed over the 661 pump action rifles seized on Sunday 22rd January 2017 by the Roving Team of the Federal Operations Unit Zone A Ikeja to the Department of State Security for further investigation.

It will be recalled that the rifles were laden in a Mack truck with registration number BDG 265 XG conveying a 1x40ft Container with Number: PONU/825914/3 before it was intercepted along Mile 2 Apapa road, Lagos.

Dolapo Badmus gets promoted to become Zonal PPRO incharge of Lagos and Ogun State


The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 AIG C. K. Aderanti has appointed former Lagos state police PRO SP Dolapo Badmos as the zonal police PRO for Zone 2.

Her appointment which takes effect from March 10, 2017 will see her supervise the Public relations department of both Lagos and Ogun state police commands.

Man hands himself over to police after stabbing a Nigerian prostitute to death


A 34-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Ghana for allegedly killing a Nigerian commercial sex worker, who he claimed stole his money after he had had sex with her.

Isaac Sackey is said to have handed himself over to the police after stabbing the said prostitute two times in the stomach and thigh on Wednesday, March 8th.

He is said to have approached the woman, identified only as Tina, a Nigerian, for sex at a drinking spot at Baatsona, near the Spintex Road, in Accra, at about 8 p.m after having some drinks with his male friends.

Two Italian dead in new motorway bridge collapse


An Italian couple were killed Thursday when a motorway bridge collapsed on top of their car, police said, as debate sparked over the reasons for the second tragedy of its kind in just over four months.

Antonella Viviani, 54, and her husband Emidio Diomede, 60, died at the scene after the bridge, which was undergoing maintenance work, gave way onto the A14 highway near Ancona on the eastern, Adriatic coast of the country.

A criminal investigation for manslaughter has been opened and the infrastructure ministry announced its own probe and sent inspectors to the scene.

EFCC arraigns three for N100m DESOPADEC fraud


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday arraigned three directors of an oil firm, Partsmaster Oil and Gas Limited, for allegedly diverting N100m meant for the payment of contractors who executed a job for the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission.

The EFCC said in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, that the accused persons, Gregory Eriyanremu, Frank Ugen and Harriman Oyofo were arraigned before Justice T. O. Uloho of the Delta State High Court sitting in Warri on five charges bordering on stealing.

DSS raids Sen. La’ah’s Kaduna residence, arrests his nephews


Armed riot policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday raided the Kaduna residence Senator Danjuma La’ah, the senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone.

According to a statement released in Kaduna, on Thursday, by La’ah, the security operatives, numbering about 100, arrived his house in buses, a pick-up van and a truck at about 5:00am and forced their way into the house.

Apo 6 killings: Two policemen get death sentence, three discharged


A Federal High Court in Abuja has delivered the much-awaited judgment on the killing of six traders in Abuja by policemen on 7 June 2005.

Two of the policemen, standing trial, were sentenced to death, while three others were discharged, in the judgement delivered today by Justice Ishaq Bello.

Those condemned to death are Emmanuel Baba and Ezekiel Acheneje, while Danjuma Ibrahim, Nicholas Zakariah and Sadiq Salami were discharged.

US surgeons remove 6-pound tumor from 12-year-old girl’s mouth


Twelve-year-old Janet Sylva wants to be a doctor when she grows up, she says with a broad grin — one that surgeons in New York gave back to the girl from Gambia after removing from her mouth one of the largest tumors they’d ever seen.

The 6-pound benign tumor was about the size of a cantaloupe. It prevented Janet from eating, and her breathing had become so difficult that doctors were afraid she might die within a year if nothing was done.
