#MayweatherMcGregor: Floyd Mayweather Knock Out McGregor in rounds 10

Floyd Mayweather has defeated U.F.C. champ Conor McGregor Sunday Morning in the 10th round by technical knockout in Las Vegas. The junior middleweight bout was slated for 12 rounds.

Referee Robert Byrd had to step in the 10th round to save McGregor from taking more punishment as the fight became one-sided.

Mayweather, who has said he will retire after this fight at age 40 showed a level of aggression rarely seen in his previous 49 victories. Mayweather had landed 132 punches compared to 80 for McGregor in the 10th round.

Floyd Mayweather who moved to a landmark 50-0 record declared after the victory: ““[Conor]’s a tough competitor – we gave the fans what they wanted to see. “He’s a lot better than I thought he was … he used different angles. But I was the better man … It was our gameplan to take our time and take him out down the stretch. That was my last fight. Tonight I chose the right dance partner. Conor you were a great dance partner tonight.”.”

Mayweather’s guaranteed purse was $100 million, but he could make in excess of $200 million with pay-per-view upside. McGregor is guaranteed $30 million, and his biggest purse in UFC is $3 million. He, too, figures to make millions more after the pay-per-view money is distributed.

Meanwhile, a surge in pay-per-view television demand forced a delay to the start of the fight.

Showtime sports stated: “Due to high demand, we have reports of scattered outages from various cable and satellite providers and the online offering,” Showtime said.
“We will delay the start of the main event slightly to allow for systems to get on track. We do not expect a lengthy delay.”
