After nine years behind bars, OJ Simpson to finally regain freedom

Former NFL star, OJ Simpson to regain his freedom after a board agrees to grant parole after nine years behind bars.

According to UK Mirror reports, he was told by the board he organized a crime in which two victims were robbed at gunpoint and deserved to be sentenced for it.

But they said: "You are low risk to re-offend on our guidelines. You have community support. We have heard from you and your victim."

He appeared via video conference in front of four parole board commissioners today.

OJ Simpson appeared dressed in a pale blue shirt, represented by his attorney. The court heard that his parole eligibility date is October 1.

Simpson told the parole board: "I'm sorry things turned out the way they did. I had no intent to commit a crime."

He said he always said he'd do his time and cause no problems and believes he has stuck by his word.

He told the hearing that all he wants to do is go back home to his kids and his friends.

Simpson told the board: "I have not complained for nine years and encouraged the guys around me - don't do anything that extends your time. And that's the life I have tried to live because I want to get back to my kids.
"I'm not a guy that's lived a criminal life."

His daughter Arnelle Simpson also spoke on behalf of the family, expressing her opinion that her father has been a perfect inmate and followed all the rules.

A victim of the robbery, Bruce Fromong, then appeared in front of the board and said he thinks it's "time for Simpson to go home".
