Father and son including six others arrested over death of kidnapped APC chieftain in Ondo


A 22-year-old boy, David on Wednesday confessed that himself, his father and six others collectively planned the kidnap of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Olumide Odimayo, who was killed by kidnappers on Monday.

David and his 45-year-old father, Francis Bekewei and six others were paraded by the Ondo State police command for complicity and murder of Odimayo.

According to Dailypost, The suspect, who was found with AK49, told newsmen that they threw the late Odimayo into the river when the local vigilantee chased them into the creek.

He expressed regrets that Odimayo gave up the ghost in the water.

The Commissioner of police in the state, Mrs. Hilda ibifuro -Harrison said the suspects were arrested with Ak 49 and 21 rounds of live ammunition by detectives, with the support of local vigilantes.

She said the lifeless body of Odimayo, their hostage, which was found in the creeks of Ajagba has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

While assuring that efforts were on top gear to arrest fleeing members of the gang, Ibifuro-Harrison said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
