Oyo State gets new Police Commissioner


Oyo State Police Command has got a new Commissioner of Police. The new Police boss is Mr. Abiodun Adekunle Odude.

This is sequel to the retirement of outgoing commissioner, CP Samuel Adegbuyi from the service of the Nigerian Police Force.


In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, he described the new helmsman as an officer who is ready to serve his fatherland and provide adequate security in Oyo state.

The new CP, an alumnus of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife) graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Demography and statistics in 1983.

The release added that the new helmsman had served in various capacities, including as a pioneer staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ajisebutu said: “He has served in intelligence Department, Zone 2, Lagos state as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the CIID, Panti, Yaba In Lagos state; he was Commissioner of Police, Administration; department of finance and Admin, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
“He is experienced and a thorough-bred professional and his commitment to duty has earned him many awards and commendations.
“He is a widely travelled officer and has attended various on-the-job courses both at home and abroad.
“He is determined to bring his wealth of experience as successful crime fighter to bear on policing the state”.
