The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has said it will hold a nationwide protest on Thursday to draw global attention to the attacks in Nigerians by South Africans.
The student body in a statement by its national president, Comr Kadiri Aruna, described the xenophobic attacks as sad and unfortunate.
He said, “it is in the last one week hundreds of Nigerians have been brutally murdered and their homes and businesses looted and burnt down.
“It is sad that South Africa has taken pleasure ones again in killing and destroying properties of our fellow Africans and Nigerians in particular. In the last one week hundreds of Nigerians have been brutally murdered and their homes and businesses looted and burnt down.”
He continued, “I want to call on all Nigerian Students to as a matter of urgency mobilise down to Abuja tomorrow the 23rd of Feb for a mass protest and massive attack on the properties and businesses owned by South Africa. The Senate meeting has been shifted to accommodate our response on the madness pepertrated by SA.
“Let us all prepare for we are ready to put a stop to this madness.Let us remind them that we contributed a great percentage to the peace and freedom they are enjoying today.”
