Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe says Jack Wilshere remains uncertain whether he has a future at Arsenal.
Wilshere, 25, came through the youth ranks at Arsenal but had struggled with injuries for some time before being sent out on loan to Bournemouth in the summer to kick-start his career.
Afobe said Wilshere, who has 18 months remaining on his contract, has no firm plans beyond the end of the season.
“To be honest I don’t think even he knows what he is going to be doing,” former Arsenal striker Afobe said in the Daily Mirror. “We have convos all the time and he just wants to play week in week out and take it month by month and see what happens at the end of the season.
“The main thing for him is about getting his confidence back and staying injury free.”
Arsene Wenger recently said he would have liked to have Wilshere at his disposal to cover for his midfield absentees, but the Arsenal boss had previously said that — while he hoped the England international would return to the Emirates Stadium — he would not stand in his way if he decided he wanted to move on.
Afobe added: “Once you get your confidence again, you want to be playing week in, week out. You want the games to be coming every two or three days and I think that is how he feels at the moment.”
Wilshere, who has been linked with Manchester City and Everton, has played in 19 Premier League games so far this season, including his two substitute appearances for Arsenal in August, which already represents his highest total since 2013-14.
He played in only three league games for the Gunners last season due to injury, and 14 in the 2014-15 campaign.
