Morocco walks out of Arab-Africa summit, other Arab countries follow suit in support


9 Arab countries, including Morocco, have pulled out from the 4th Arab-African Summit in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), in protest against the participation of the so-called Desert Polisario separatist delegation.

The countries that withdrew from the summit in solidarity with Morocco are Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Yemen and Somalia.

Others are also expected to follow suit according to Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hillary Clinton's popular votes lead passes the 2 million mark


Hillary Clinton's margin in the popular vote against President-elect Donald Trump has surpassed 2 million, furthering the record for a candidate who lost in the Electoral College.

Thanks to votes still being counted in California and other western areas, Clinton's vote advantage hit the 2 million mark on Wednesday morning, according to Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report.

As of mid-day, Wednesday, Wasserman's spreadsheet had Clinton at 64,225,863 votes to Trump's 62,210,612.

A Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday remanded a 23-year-old housekeeper, Henry Iruma-Egana, who allegedly stole his employer’s credit card to purchase goods online.

The Magistrate, Mrs F.O. Ikobayo, remanded the housekeeper pending ruling his bail application.

She adjourned the case to November 30 for the ruling.

Donald Trump says He will build a fence, rather than a wall


U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has softened his initial immigration threat to build a wall along the United States border line with Mexico.

Speaking with New York Times on Tuesday, Trump said he might have to build a fence, rather than a wall, in some areas of the U.S.- Mexican border to stop illegal immigration.

This is contrary to one of his signature campaign promises on immigration where he promised to build a wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.

President Buhari to present 2017 budget Dec 1


The 2017-2019 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper sent to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari for legislative approval narrowly escaped being rejected again at the Senate on Wednesday.

The upper chamber of the National Assembly condemned the projections of the proposal in the document as unrealistic, even though it said the Presidency had set December 1 for the presentation of the 2017 Appropriation Bill to the legislature.

Lagos State cancels monthly environmental sanitation exercise


The Lagos State Government has cancelled the monthly environmental sanitation exercise held every last Saturday of the month.

The cancellation followed a resolution arrived at in Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting which approved the need for a review of the environmental laws and procedures in the state in order to meet the present day challenges and to promote a clean and healthy.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, in a statement said the cancellation of the monthly exercise became necessary due to present economic realities in the country.

It was when the home’s new owner began to move around furniture that he uncovered the stash, a box of coins attached to the underside of an item of furniture.

Police find the body of '7-year-old' phone thief burnt to death in a Lagos canal


The Lagos State Police Command has located the charred remains of a robbery suspect who was burnt to death by a mob in the Orile area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the suspect was believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, and not a seven-year-old boy lynched over garri, which went viral on the social media.

Owoseni, who noted that the lynching occurred around 4pm penultimate Saturday, said the police had contacted an emergency agency of the state government to remove the corpse.

Late Gov Audu’s Son Says His Father’s Shoe Too Big For Me


One year after the death of the first civilian governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, his first son, Mohammed on Tuesday said the shoes left by his father were too big for him to step into. He also dispelled the rumour that there was a crack in the political family left behind by Audu, saying all this that believed in the former governor were still intact. 

Mohammed, who spoke during the one year remembrance prayer for his father held at his country home in Ogonicha, Ofu local government area of Kogi State, said it had been difficult managing the members of the political family after the demise of his father.

 He however said he was learning the rope faster and would continue to sustain the values and ideals for which his father was known.

Inspired by the incredibly popular Transformers film franchise, a group of soldiers from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) created their own version of the courageous and selfless character Optimus Prime. Taking just a month to build, the project was initiated to stimulate the soldiers' interest in car maintenance during their training. This Optimus Prime was built entirely from spare parts.

Borno State | Court Martial Jails Soldier For Stealing Bullets, Demotes Three Others


A military general court martial in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday sentenced a soldier to 18 months in prison for unauthorized possession of live ammunitions outside his assigned duty post. The court also ruled that three officers would not be promoted for periods ranging from 18 months to two years for unprofessional conduct in the frontline.

The court martial, headed by Olusegun Adeniyi, a Brigadier General, tried Private Mcdonald Chukwu on a two-count charge after he was caught at a bus station with 89 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunitions inside his travelling bag.
