Chelsea striker Bertrand Traore has hit out at his parent club for failing to give young players a chance.
The 21-year-old was expected to be part of Antonio Conte's squad this term having impressed under interim boss Guus Hiddink.
Traore, who scored four times last term, featured heavily in pre-season for Chelsea but was shipped out on loan to Ajax.
Conte opted to go with Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi as his striking options but Traore believes he has plenty to offer.
“I felt, and feel, that I am ready for Chelsea. I did not see the loan overall. Why did I play so much in pre-season?" he said.
“Why was I allowed to participate so often under Guus Hiddink [last season]? Why do young players get no real chance at Chelsea?
“It’s good for the composition of the squad if it is also home to a couple of talented youngsters.”
Traore is one of 38 players loaned out by Chelsea as their staggering youth policy comes under increasing scrutiny.
Conte has given some youngsters playing time though, with Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ola Aina featuring regularly this term.
