A live-streaming host from China has been sentenced to four years in prison after spreading obscene videos on the internet, according to Chinese media. The 21-year-old, whose screen name is 'Sherry Gun', was arrested after a video called 'Foursome in Chengdu' became widely shared online.
Sherry Gun participated in the filming together with one other woman and two men in order to attract more followers for her online live-streaming business, reports said. The two-minute-long video became viral in March.
The search term 'foursome in Chengdu' quickly became a top search term on various search engines in China. It was also widely shared on Chinese social media platforms, such as WeChat and QQ.
Police officers found out one of the female performers in the video was known as Sherry Gun on the internet. On May 4, two teams of police officers from Deyang and Mianzhu arrested Lin in front of her residential compound as she returned from a holiday in Dubai.
In addition to Lin, two other suspects, identified as Wang and Li, were arrested at the same time.
According to the police, Lin, Li and Wang have admitted to spreading obscene content on the internet.
All of them were aged under 22 and come from wealthy families.
The three suspects said they had decided to upload such content in order to pursue fame.
