A pharmacist was arrested on a charge of indecent assault after being accused of raping a young woman who came to his shop for medication, according to police in Australia.
Kuang King of Melbourne, has been sentenced to serve six months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting the 22-year-old woman, who was not identified.
In addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered to perform 300 hours of community service. Tan will have to complete a 16-week sex offender course and undergo further psychological treatment.
Some people criticized the court for the exceptionally lenient sentence. The Pharmacy Board of Australia, suspended Tan.
According to the criminal complaint, The woman visited a medical clinic next door to the pharmacy, where she was diagnosed with a rash.
The woman went to Tan’s pharmacy, and handed over the prescription for an antibiotic ointment. Tan took her into a room, and asked her to undress and show him the rash.
The woman had a rash on her stomach and private parts. Tan then raped the woman. The woman was left in distress. She still suffers from panic attacks and loss of appetite.
