Iraqi men rescued from ISIS shave their beards as part of celebration (Photos)

Iraqi men whose villages have been liberated from ISIS control have been celebrating their freedom by shaving off their beards. Government troops have advanced on the village of Gogjali, just a few hundred metres from Mosul, the last Iraqi city under control of terror group.

There civilians have been taking shelter in a local mosque as soldiers go house-to-house to make sure they have rooted out all of the militants from the village.

And while inside the mosque, many of the men took the opportunity to shave off their facial hair, which was a requirement for all civilians living under ISIS rule.

Men could be seen using clippers and even scissors to trim down their beards to celebrate their freedom.
