Hapoel Be’er Sheva forward Anthony Nwakaeme is keen on making his mark for the Super Eagles if handed an invitation by coach Gernot Rohr.
The 27-year-old who led the Turner Stadium outfit to a victorious 2015/2016 campaign with a staggering 11 goals in his first season has declared that he is all set to make his long-awaited Nigeria debut having admitted that he had been more committed to club duties in the past years.
With John Ogu and Nosa Igiebor handed Nigeria call-ups, the forward who has netted six times in nine appearances this season has expressed his availablity for the Super Eagles.
“Sure, I am ready if I am called to play for the Super Eagles, but the truth is, over the last few years, I have had to concentrate more on my club career,” Nwaekeme said.
“The journalists here in Israel always ask me why I don’t get called to the national team like Nosa Igiebor and John Ogu, but it is always the coach’s call to determine that, but if they call me, I will be available.”
Nwakaeme was on target for Hapoel Beer Sheva in their 3-2 win over Inter Milan on Thursday after converting a 70th minute penalty past Samir Handanovic to open his Europa League goal scoring account.
