A spokesperson of the Nigerian military has revealed that captured Boko Haram members cannot even recite the Quran meaning that they don’t even practice the religion they claim to fight for.
He made this known in his facebook page while discussing the Boko Haram insurgency with Nigerians and wrote below:
“Most of the Boko Haram terrorists captured by Nigerian Military cannot read the Holy Quran, some of them cannot even recite the first chapter- Suratuh Al-Fathiha, yet they claimed they want to establish an ‘Islamic State’,” Colonel Sani wrote on Facebook
Considering the acts of the extremist group as “ironically shameful”, the senior military official revealed that “when the Nigerian Military captured their bases and training camps, they never found Quran, Hadith or other Islamic literature.”
“What they found were ammunitions, … and all sort of drugs including sex enhancing drugs in their enclaves at Sambisa Forest, Borno, North Eastern Nigeria,” officer Usman said
Boko Haram has wreaked havoc in the North Eastern part of Nigeria and has killed thousands and displaced even hundreds of thousands for nearly six years now
Military forces from Nigeria, Chad, Cameroun and Niger have mapped out 8,700 strong foot soldiers to defeat the militants before the end of the year
