Andre Villas-Boas appointed as coach of China Super League side Shanghai SIPG

Former Chelsea and Spurs boss has replaced former England chief Sven-Goran Eriksson on an £11million-a-year deal

Andre Villas-Boas has been confirmed as the new head coach of Shanghai SIPG.

The Portuguese coach replaces ex-England chief Sven-Goran Eriksson, after he was sacked following the end of the 2016 season.

The big-spending side will hand the 39-year-old a salary of £11million-a-year, as they look to overhaul champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
"Andre Villas-Boas is the leading young manager in European football, with a huge amount of passion and coaching experience," a Shanghai SIPG statement read.
"We are convinced his arrival will enrich the tactical nous of the team, unearth the potential of our young talents and guide our club to scale new heights."
