Egyptian football giants Zamalek FC have blamed their loss to South African side Mamelodi Sundowns on black magic after their failure to beat the South Africans to the coveted CAF Champions League trophy.
The Egyptians went down 3-0 in the first leg of the double-tie final before winning the return leg by a solitary goal, though that was not enough to pip Mamelodi to the title.
Zamalek chairperson Mortada Mansour claimed the South African team used “magic and sorcery” to beat the Egyptian giants in the CAF Champions League final.
“I want to tell everybody to not make fun of our claims that there was something suspicious in Islam Gamal’s own-goal (for Sundowns),” said Mansour in a press conference.
“It is abnormal that Islam Gamal scores an own-goal in the same way Ali Gabr scored with before with the same foot and in the same net.
“It is not necessary that it is Sundowns who have used magic – look for the former Zamalek players who were expelled from the club. I am speaking about someone who knows himself well.”
Mansour however went on to applaud the team’s effort, adding: “All of the players and their coach were men today and we missed God’s reconcile. I thanked them after the game for their manly performance
