Plus-size model receives death threat for losing weight from oversize activists

A plus-size model has told how she's been subjected to death threats and suicide taunts from "fat activists" who are furious after she dropped a stunning 240lbs.

Rosie Mercado, a mother-of-three from Las Vegas, used to be a size 34 but is now a size 12 to 14.

The 36-year-old has received sick abuse as a results however.

She told TMZ:
"I got hate mail - not so much from the other models, just fans that hated on me."They told me to go jump off a bridge and kill myself for losing weight.Fat activists, there you go. Yeah fat activists, they just hated the thought I was really public about my weight loss and I was losing weight."Because I guess everybody loves to be happy in their own weight. Some people love being overweight, some people don't.I think it's a personal choice and you've just got to take it, there's good and bad that comes with any life choice and changes so you know what? You've just got to let it go and not pay attention to the negative remarks."
The model decided to lose weight after a flight attendant told her she was too big for one seat and would need to buy another seat for a journey.

She made a huge change to her diet, but also got a gastric sleeve to help her along the way - alongside exercising six days a week.

Rosie later had a skin removal procedure, alongside a "tummy tuck".
